S2400 | AKAI S950 | Round Robin Beats

Here we have some classic jungle breaks chopped in the Akai S950 triggered from the S2400. I created a program template with keygroups triggered from the S2400 default midi banks. Drum programming makes heavy use of the Round Robin feature added in the latest S2400 firmware update.

What are your thoughts on S2400 vs S950 sound? I have an S950 and considering S2400 as replacement for the workflow improvements so would be good to hear how you find them by comparison.

I think they sound very different, the VCF on the S950 has a lot to do with that. They work really well together though, I love sequencing the S950 from the S2400. It sounds great, adds modern workflow and features, but can't replace that unmistakable sound of the S950. The crunch, saturation when sampling hot, and amazing filter give the S950 character. The S2400 has its own character too, and who knows if the analogue filter board ever comes out, it will make a difference.
