Niiiccee. I got a s2400 and still haven’t figured it out. Your hardware set up is killer. Is the S2400 going through the mixer 1st? Your mix is super pro. I don’t have a hardware mixer like I used to, and just run all my synths and drum machines directly into Logic Pro, but it never sounds like when I used a mixer. I just don’t have the space.

You are welcome! 😁 Congratulations on the purchase. It is the best instrument I've ever bought, it's built to last a lifetime. Thanks for the feedback, I got a lot of those stereo FX from the OB6 and Microcosm, it really helps having a mixer with plenty of aux channels. Of course, you can get on and write good music without that and add it all later in the DAW. Many ways to get your groove on. I hope you enjoy it

@@project-95 no worries, i was actually looking at getting a mixer because i started out using an 8 track cassette recorder, miss real faders but its not as sexy as a new sampler 😂 anyway skint but happy now! Pick it up next week 😃 How did you find the learning curve?

@@project-95 p.s always loved the oberheim sound & have definitely been tempted by the microcosm, the meris lvx been a strong contender! But think i need t just concentrate on the isla b⁴ i even think of any more kit!
@project-9510 ай бұрын
@@eyesintheskies it isn't too hard, there is a curve before it clicks especially with making changes to sequenced events and then committing changes to pattern using 'modify pattern'. It's one of the strengths of the workflow, once a step is sequenced it doesn't change when you tweak sample parameters unless you tell it to, but future events will will play the current parameters. Step editing is great too, and using it as your midi hub to control external daisy chained synths. Super simple and great timing.
@eyesintheskies10 ай бұрын
@@project-95 good to hear, sounds perfect. Just read its been updated to double the polyphony which is awesome. I got a good deal on ebay so might actually be able to afford the filter cards when they drop! But for now im going to concentrate on climbing that learning curve you speak of. As long as the basics r simply enough to get jamming. I can learn the finer nuances as i progress. Cheers 4 the reply 🤛

Are you playing everything through the S2400 or are you using an external clock/trigger to fire off the samples? I'm seeing lots of other blinking lights from nearby units and just curious what your workflow for jungle is?
@project-9510 ай бұрын
Thanks for listening! Yeah everything is sequenced from the S2400, internal samples and midi synths. I also use the S2400 trigger out to advance external devices, such as the SH-101. My typical workflow for jungle is to browse some classic breaks samples, like Jungle Warfare, then keep adding elements on top from either samples or synths. I build the song using solo's on the 2400 sequencer. It's very simple, and fine edits can be made easily in the step edit screen.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that someone with such great taste in instruments and equipment also has great taste in music. I'm curious, what is the microcosm doing in this track? I don't have one but it seems like an intriguing pedal.
@project-9511 ай бұрын
Thanks! At around 0:45 a synth/stab sample comes in and you will hear it has an intermittent delay type effect behind it, that's the microcosm. It's an amazing pedal, highly recommend it!
@tsuobachi11 ай бұрын
@@project-95 Alright, thanks for the example, I'll consider getting one next time I'm pedal shopping. Btw, I checked out your bandcamp and listened to Night Flight and I have to say, it was like finding a lost track from Haunted Science by Omni Trio. It's very very rare I enjoy a DnB track these days, but I thought it was absolutely stunning. Really great stuff. I noticed the image for the release is a vinyl label and wasn't sure if it's actually on vinyl or if that was just art for the digital release. If it's on vinyl I'd love to buy a copy, and if not, it should be. I look forward to listening to more of your music tomorrow when I've got some time. [EDIT: I listened to it again and it actually reminded me a lot of that Good Looking era and LTJ Bukem and friends, which me and my buddies were into around the same time as Omni Trio and Moving Shadow. To me it's a trip down memory lane which is funny because obviously I've never heard the track before today, but it almost feels like I grew up listening to it. If that's the sound you're going for you nailed it, and I have to assume it is because it's hard to hit that specific sound accidentally. Really great stuff, thanks]

@@tsuobachithanks for the kind and inspiring words friend and for taking the time to listen. It means a lot. If you like Distant, I just posted the original version I made kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmXWd6N_qK-cqbcsi=KigIV0ESwq87lppO before changing it into something very different. I'll put this on BC as the remix, although it's actually the original 😅. Edit - my bad you said Night Flight, sorry. Check out Temporal, that seems to be my most popular track. The Microcosm when used right can be an effective tool to add subtle and interesting background elements to tracks with little effort. My secret weapon for drums too, when you put the effect in reverse 😍

Just got S2400 and making Jungle, still stuck on the whole process of making a song on it. Seems really hard to go back and do edits to the song (add parts) after added to the song time line. You have nailed the process ;)
@project-9511 ай бұрын
Thank you. If it helps, I only use a single pattern. Then build the song using solos. Agree it can be tedious to make adjustments, but solo'ing makes life easier if you want to add more tracks later
@omenjh11 ай бұрын
Ok that helps, how do you do your transitions between sections of the song this way? @@project-95
@project-9511 ай бұрын
@@omenjh simply by adding solo events. Each track will be solo'd on/off when it needs to come in or out,. followed by shift+F2 to add to song. Songs can be created really fast this way once you master it 🙂
@project-9511 ай бұрын
@@omenjh you can also create multiple songs, one for intro, drop, breakdown etc. Then bounce each song to its own pattern and make step edits before adding each pattern to a new final song. There's a lot of flexibility
@omenjh11 ай бұрын
@@project-95 This would be my preferred way of working. It’s a shame mutes are global otherwise I would save different patterns with different mutes and build that way. Making each section a song is a good work around for this 😎

@@project-95 being on board since the preorder, wasn‘t satisfied at first bc of some major bugs, but the S2400 is my main machine for a few years now. So far so good. Being excited for the fx board - but only for basic stuff like reverb or compressor, nothing fancy. Also without fx the unit is good and get‘s the job done, as long as your are skilled enough (most people bother with a lot of fx bc of the lack of picking the right sounds).

@@WASKMUSIC the DSP board is a great idea especially if we can resample with FX 😍 I'll def be grabbing the filter board too! Such a shame.
