This is the tenth video of our second season where we document our move from Brooklyn New York to Accra Ghana.
In this season, we have arrived in Ghana to start a new life!
If this is your first time seeing us, we recommend you watch us from the beginning... starting with episode 1 of season 1.
In this video, we reflect on the past year as we settle into our new surroundings.
For more information visit us at www.offthewheel.info and if our mission resonates with you, please consider joining our movement.
If you are thinking about moving to Ghana, you can practice living here by staying at our AirBnB; for more info visit:
Short term stay ( 2 - 10 days) www.airbnb.com/h/offthewheel
Long term stay (11 - 90 days) www.airbnb.com/h/offthewheel2
Follow us on Instagram also at off.the.wheel
Mentioned In This Video:
Expat Impact Tours - This is our own tour where we take you around to visit and see the amazing things expats are doing here. ( www.expatimpact.tours )
Senior Living - We are gathering interest on a senior living community we are building. If you want to move to Ghana, but prefer to rent vs build/buy, then this may be a better option for you.
Pre Designed Homes - We have 3 housing modules to choose from - Budget, Standard and Luxury. You can choose your finishes, and also choose the neighborhood you want your one acre of land to be in.
Sourcing Authentic Ghana Products - For you American salon owners, street vendors and entrepreneurs, you can now get authentic Ghana products - shea butter, cocoa butter, apparel, wigs - delivered to the US. ( www.ghana-authentic.com )

As a Jamaican born and raised in Washington DC, I was in Ghana 2017 for the first time, I'm first person went to Africa in my family, when I was in flight, the person next to me is a Ghanaian also going to the motherland, my first time and I didn't know anyone over there, so through the conversation she was like my parents are living in Ghana doing very well, we have big mansion in East legon and we can accommodate you, I taught she was joking, when we arrived at the airport, her parents and her sister and brother are there to come and pick her so she introduced me to the family, they took me home. I spent 3 weeks in Ghana without buying food, they took care of me, long story short, she is now my wife. We have twin girls. We started building apartments for rent in Aburi. We have recently purchased old house in Dansomen or Dansoman in ACCRA, we are going to do renovation. We purchased another 45 acres for poultry farm . We are planning to settle in Ghana by the next 2 years. Ghanaians are the most coolest and welcoming people in the world

Write a book as to how you started your family 😁👍🏾 Seems like such hospitality from your first encounter meeting on the plane, and for a first trip to “Africa” is exemplary of Ghana.

Here is my lil 2 cents on why I think you two will have longevity in Ghana. YOU GUYS PLANNED and many of us watched you for months prior to your relocation. You went to Ghana with little western expectations and opened yourself to everything Ghana. Thanks for sharing your honest experiences with us and I wish you the ABSOLUTE best in your Ghana journey.

They are a good example on how to move correctly. They visited first to see if Ghana was right for them. They establish network on the ground before moving there and they didn't move on saving alone but on a steady stream of income. More importantly they didn't come to Ghana with expectations...

I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel! I've been in Cape Coast Ghana over a year and agree with everything you said, especially about the patience you need here. That was and is one of my biggest challenges. 😊 I'm quite impressed with what you have accomplished in such a short time. I'm looking forward to further connecting with you as we build our construction business.

I found this channel 2 days ago and binge watch every episode… I was born and raise in Trinidad 🇹🇹 and moved to NY when I was 13, I'm currently 28 but I'm always back and forth... For the past year, I’ve been getting this strong calling to move to Africa (Ghana specifically) and I’ve been watching different people speak about their process and how hard it's been, but I must say, THIS CHANNEL IS THE MOST DETAILED AND INFORMATIVE CHANNEL I’VE CAME ACROSS and I appreciate you guys taking your time and energy to give the info you gave. No one ever understood me when I say, “why wouldn’t I want to live in Africa” especially within my age group but everything you both listed in your 5 reasons to move is EXACTLY how I feel and I'm at the point where I literally just want that peace of mind... After listening alllll the episodes and hearing you guys describe living in Ghana, I realize it's so similar to living in Trinidad, I thought I would of had a hard time transitioning but the similarities makes me even more excited to #GetOffTheWheel!!!!! I've never visit Ghana but I intend to this year and I already feel it in my soul after my first visit I'll be moving shortly after... Can't wait to join the membership so I can speak to more like minded people....

I took my kids on a two months vacation, and before the trip, my boy was 157lb, he's 11. We returned, and he's now 135 lbs. I didn't starve him but he had more healthier choices, he could play more,move around and just be a kid. I took them to a rural area and the best part for them, was that they could go out all by themselves. They are 11,9, and 7.

I feel that you guys will be very successful. You guys have several streams of income and you seem organized. Congratulations on your new life. As for Africans not knowing about the trans atlantic slave trade, I doubt that they do not know about it. It's not convenient for them to acknowledge it, but believe me, they know. All the slave castles are there for a reason.
@offthewheel
@offthewheel Жыл бұрын
When we visited the slave dungeons the local tour guides admitted/lamented that they estimate 90-95% of the locals within a 10 mile radius did not know what was going on in the dungeons. When you combine the colonial stench that still remains with how information is so costly (internet data) with many people just trying to survive, you can see how thats possible. But its changing!!

I am a Holistic faith based Doula in the US with goals and visions to be a successful birth professional in childbirth education.
