Been watching the build since day one, And I've got the Wave Rover Study plans glued to the wall. Building materials in my country are very expensive, But I'm doing my best to save up several thousand dollars before I begin the build. I hope that upon launch, You can organize another fund raiser with the architect. I'm not super rich and I'd like a portion of the Plans purchase to go towards your trip. Thank you Alen for the detailed build videos, I look forward to cracking on and forging my own adventure :)

Alan working my way through your content. Revolutionary design I cant find a video on your specific commentary on these points, I'm sure there is one but you have done away with a cockpit bay creating massive aft stowage and rid of need for engine room due to boat size (outboard). Cockpit view outstanding. Combine this with extra beam to steady the thing and bilge keels absolute genius. Also the lifeboat qualities stand out. No decks creating additional internal space. No requirement to go forward in storm as sail controlled from CP but more topside space in good weather. This thing if knocked down would roll right back up no error. This could cross the Atlantic and also be a trailer boat. Be a great boat for UK tidal waters. Truly epic achievement. Westerley attempted this with sloop/ gaff rigging but you have taken this to another level based on your experience of ocean sailing, junk rig nice touch, great combination of application of experience to design. Safety on this thing is amazing and us mere mortals would feel very confident sailing coastal waters in something like this here in the UK. Another great touch is bilge keels, essential in the UK, Irish sea area. Where do I sign up? Best regards.

Hi Alan, I was thinking about you and water availability since you are in a small boat. When I was watching the GGR I believe it was Jeremy that got caught in a situation between the Azores and France. Jeremy got caught when he was trying to get back to France. The winds were blowing out from land towards the Azores. The reason I bring it up is that Don from the GGR talked about a hand pump water maker designed for emergency use. It doesn't supply a lot of water, but it's small and easy to use. That might be great for you to carry on board in case you need to get drinkable water. GGR requirements for the solo sailors is that they have to have it just in case they need more water. Doldrum or winds cause you to have to take a different direction to get to the destination causing you to take longer to get there.

Interesting Chinese Asian design of ridges and sails. Alan you may have gone over this subject previously but I have entered the waters of the Gulf of Mexico from a outboard fishing boat and the stern was low enough for me to regain access to the boat although it was a strain doing so and I was in my teens then… now turning 67 today there is no way that I could hall myself back into the boat without a ladder. Heaven forbid if you lost your balance or if you need to make a rudder repair how would you regain access to Wavy Rover? Could you install a couple of SS grab handles to act as steps?

It's at least a lot more orca-proof than the typical production boat rudder, which is basically just a thin fibreglass shell filled with closed-cell foam! I suspect any orca that bites Wave Rover's rudder will lose a few teeth.

Pretty junk sail. You are wise opting for a flat panel sail for your initial sailing. Most of your sailing should be off the wind anyway. You will learn a lot about junk sails and this will stand you in good stead for the next design which I guess will be cambered.
