I wanted the boat to be unique. The improved seating and communication with the rear passengers is going to be worth any inconvenience. I also won’t have to worry about pulling up to the dock and seeing another boat like it.

Your backfire through the carb is either a misadjusted accelerator pump or simply the accelerator pump is bad. Could also be a blocked passage or missing check ball.

Carb was newly rebuilt so we were hoping those possibilities had already been dealt with. We solved it by enlarging the primary jet one numbered drill size. Been great ever since.

@@glassgoat9601 That's one way to deal with it. But I would still look into the accelerator pump. I worked in the boat repair business for about 25 years. Loved the old stuff. Also, just because it was rebuilt doesn't mean it's good. Lord knows how many carbs I rebuilt. Some were pretty cantankerous. On a side note, would you be interested in a 1942 Chris, 33ft?

Catching up on on your videos. What did you use to to hold the back seat vertical plywood up? They look like they'd just flip down when you go forward. Or does the pressure simply hold them in place?

Nothing, the angle and gravity seems to be enough. Also, they’re still going to get upholstery which will help as well. EVERYTHING should be done for the Hammondsport show mid July.

You make so nice work, but it wood look good if you could use screws vith a straight slot and all of them pointing in the same direction i.e. vertical. Excuse my spelling (Danish)

I don't mind using straight slot screws when they match screws already on the boat but this boat came with Frearson screws. Lining up all of the screw heads might be a bit more than I have the patience for :) Glad to have you watching the Wooden Boat Experience!

I always run two batteries. Gives me a lot of time for the bilge pumps if needed and plenty of juice if I have an issue.
