Okay. Now I have completed the change-out of the coil pack. My wife now rates the smoothness of the test-drive as a 100%. I now have a happy wife and a happy life! THANKYOU!

Was running into misfires and poor performance on my model. I’ve got some plugs and wires to complete the tuneup, but decided to go with just swapping packs and it’s damn close to feeling smooth again. Thanks for the info, saved me time!

Yep, anytime a piston do not fire, the next piston to fire gets an extra squirt from the injector, then the idle is too fast so the next injector retards the fuel flow, so it goes ru ru ru, and the tack goes up and down... you know the deal, smooth low idle is the clue all pistons are kicking the mule ...

Just finished replacing the coil in a 2002 T&C. The engine runs SOOO much better now that cylinder 2 is firing. Like the comment before me - it was VERY helpful knowing about the hidden 10mm nut. Both the where and what size. One thing I did that was helpful is I took a paint marker and wrote the numbers on the plug wires and also on the new coil unit since it didn't have them. I'll probably never need to mess with them again due to the age of the van but either way they are clearly labeled now.

Thank you for showing that 10 mm nut under the power steering reservoir. That was the worst part of the whole job. At 68 I’ve seen a lot of crazy odd places engineers put bolt and nuts and this is a tough one. Dodge always seems to put spark plugs in tough to get at spots also. A 1968 GTX w a 440 was really bad.

I am a little cautious about that "used" coil. It is "used" and out of the vehicle for a reason. I paid $70 for one at NAPA that has a 3-year warrantee. I am perfectly fine with that. I placed my "used" coil in the trash, where it belongs; because I know that it no longer works properly. I would not want to burden anyone else with the problems my old coil did to me. I hope that used one works for you anyway.

just found this video, it helped me out... Sadly the wire that sends info to the computer from the coil pack sort of broke, like the clip to lock it in place broke, it works but I'm thinking that if we hit a bump and it comes out the whole car shuts down. I was just outside in 39 degree weather to get it out. I was wondering why that pump wont come out then i realised there's a bolt holding it in... thank you so much

I would check for codes first. If there is no codes you could start with some basics , spark plugs , wires. Perform a compression test , fuel pressure test. Autozone has all these loaner tools , free with a deposit. Thank you for the feedback and best of luck on your project.

me out , I changed the spark plugs and wires on my 01 Carvana and after doing that my van has a ruff vibration at ideal or coming to a stop on red. I got a mechanic to clean out the threading where the spark plugs go and it keeps doing it maybe it’s the coils ? I also need an oxygen sensor maybe that will do the trick? If anyone has been in this situation help me out thanks !

@s33therfan4 жыл бұрын
Well this one I had actually broken one of the electrodes myself , however you are correct sometimes they can be hard to diagnose. One case was my explorer I had been having sluggish take off but other than that nothing no codes. Finally it threw a code for one of the coil packs and that lead me to replacing them all. After that there was a big difference in power that I had not even realized I was missing . Thanks for watching.
