------
Dance Dance Revolution World / DDR World (2024) by Konami
Dance Dance Revolution World is a music video game, the 18th installment of the Dance Dance Revolution arcade series in Japan (the 10th outside of Japan), and the sequel to Dance Dance Revolution A3. The game was released as a software upgrade for LCD-based cabinets on June 12, 2024, in Asia, Australasia and the United States.
Dance Dance Revolution World was released on June 12, 2024, in Asia (including Japan, South Korea and several other countries), Australia, New Zealand and the United States. It is available as an online update to Dance Dance Revolution A3 LCD-based cabinets.
As is the case with Dance Dance Revolution A3, Dance Dance Revolution World is currently unavailable in Canada, Europe and several American states. In North America, DDR World is available at Round1 USA, but not at Dave & Buster's, which continues to operate Dance Dance Revolution A20 Plus at 71 locations.
This is the first release of Dance Dance Revolution to be unsupported on CRT-based arcade cabinets, as Dance Dance Revolution A3 is the last supported version. Early DDR games, from the first release in 1998 to Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova 2 in 2007, were sold with brand new CRT-based cabinets. Arcades were able to install newer releases on these cabinets by purchasing a Bemani PC upgrade kit. An offline version of Dance Dance Revolution A3 was released on April 30, 2024, for these cabinets. This offline release is also supported on these cabinets if the CRT monitor is replaced with a widescreen LCD monitor.

Glad you got to try World! My overall impression of it is quite positive. The new features and QoL enhancements are truly phenomenal and push the series forward (filtering, .05x speed changes, among others). My biggest complaints are really just about the UI/UX, but even so they are things that can be easily fixed with future updates. Overall this version could've spent more time in the oven. Finally, regarding the music, yeah there has definitely been a shift from old era to new era music. I grew up with the originals and will always miss them, and it is true that we get a lot more anime/weeb music now, but there are bangers still and I think everyone should keep an open mind! To answer some of the questions you had: - You can change the speed only at the beginning of the song (before arrows appear) using the Left and Right machine buttons. This will change it in increments of .25x - There are no dan courses (or any courses) at this moment

Thanks! Overall it was pretty fun! I hope they bring the Dan Courses back! They were my favourite! I never really played the normal modes in the later games too much, but I liked the challenge of Oni/Dan courses. Thanks for the info! Yeah, I agree with the UI, it's pretty bad... I don't think the game is enough to make me travel to an arcade to play when I have Stepmania at home, but I think we've finally reached the days where community-driven content is overtaking commercial products! Even some of the Chinese games are better then the original counterparts! The Beatsaber/Dance rush combo game is amazing haha! ... If I see it in an arcade and im already there, i'd probably have a game though!

I haven't tried DDR World yet, but I'm definitely going to when I come back to Round 1. Also in my opinion, DDR World is going to get better just like A3 did, the last two recent updates to World are already a huge step in the right direction

I think if the menu system was totally replaced, it would be pretty decent. It's downloadable as of a few days ago. Didn't take very long for that to happen!

Fun fact here in Indo (except for gold cabs) galaxy play is the cheapest option

How does Galaxy Play work exactly? It guarantees an extra stage, but it was 16 credits more to play Galaxy Play. I wasn't sure if I'm understanding something incorrectly, but it seemed like way way more to play that mode

@@s34nvideosoriginally galaxy play was basically a way to speedy up the grind during the baby-lons galaxy event back in A3 (when it was introduced) but in ddr world it allows you to use a feature called floating flare where the flare gauge will demote it self to a lower flare gauge during the song so it will start at ex and if it lowers to idk IX then you passed it with flare IX. Also holy shit that price for galaxy play is ridiculous wtf
@luthfikarim6412
@luthfikarim6412 3 ай бұрын
This is not the default, most arcades (and the machine distributors) didn't aware about this galaxy play feature being released in A3 and they haven't yet (as of now) set the correct pricing for all White Cab. As you can see in Japan, the price should be around 3x Standard Play. I'm currently trying to reach CPCM staff/leaders to decrease the current Galaxy Play price (which was 10 credits/20 coins/50k rupiah to 5 credits/10 coins/25k rupiah, aligned with PIU Phoenix Premium Play price in CPCM) Overall the pricing that we'll propose would be : Norma/Premium/Galaxy - 3/4/5 credits - 6/8/10 coins - 15k/20k/25k rupiah

As a die-hard DDR junky that almost passed out with joy upon playing a gold cab in Akihabara, I don't know if I love the look of this or hate it intensely. I don't think I like it. It seems really cheap and like a giant mobile game - I dunno. Thanks for the look at it though!

@@AJ_UK_LIVE The gold cabs are so nice!! I think it's one of the best looking machines! The game is a little rough looking, but you weirdly get used to it. I guess that's like anything new! I remember when ITG first came to London, it was a huge DDR vs ITG war 😆

@@s34nvideos It's funny you mention the music. I never liked ITG because I didn't like the music. At least - not a lot of it anyways. Pink Fuzzy Bunnies was win ;) The music is what grabs you after all. The newer DDR mixes fell off in that regard I think. Pump has always had banging K-Pop tunes, and fun randoms. I think DDR peaked in the Supernova, X and A20 times - oh and Extreme of course!

Interesting to hear a rhythm game expert's take on World. I played it recently too and I did find the menus annoying and the short timer was reeeeally bugging me. Ended up playing songs I don't know which was not ideal since I'm still trying to get good at the games. I was worried my opinion wasn't valid because I'm still learning advanced levels, but I'm finding the same or similar complaints from better players so it's not just me X'D The music is sorted so weirdly it's like using a new PC operating system, I was sorting by version but it still ate up a lot of time. I still haven't gotten an E-amuse either. I'm still gonna play though, The changes intimidate and annoy me but the game is still DDR so I'm grateful to play it. I like the meme at the end lol, but I know some Australians and they do have DDR World, granted it's probably export but they are online, apparently only select arcades sell the cards though
@s34nvideos
@s34nvideos 3 ай бұрын
I think your opinion is perfectly valid because I feel they target these games at a wider audience rather than people with good ability in the game.... Kinda! I think the biggest culprit is the menu timer, but they want people to move through credits as fast as possible, so it kinda makes sense, but then why make the UI as complicated as hell! 😆 The first song in the video was because I ran out of time lol... I think that has happened to almost everybody so far! It reminds me of trying to play an early Pump It Up mix for the first time; attempting to set up the speed mods, change genre, or choose a chart difficulty. It was really difficult! If you don't have eamuse, you almost waste your first song by trying to setup the machine before playing. It's a really odd decision. The music filters and mod menus are really good and useful, but the song selection takes up so much space on the screen in these later mixes. I wish it was more condensed, then you wouldn't need so many filters to filter out music. It feels like using an ipad or tablet or something when choosing a song. The meme says that over Indonesia too, where the video was filmed 😅 It's interesting it's only select arcades in AUS, I didn't know that! Sounds like USA too, expect I think it's only Round One right now. (Excluding Hawaii completely)

@@K9arcade it seems that once arcades sell that small stack of cards that come with a machine purchase, many operators rarely order anymore cards in. It's a huge problem at most of the arcades. Some folks buy out the arcades and re-sell for a higher price too.

The new UI for World actually kinda reminds me of Hottest Party 3, with how stylised it is and the fonts used in some menus being similar. I like the more stylised aesthetic with use of flat colours, but I'm not sure how I feel about other aspects.

Any1 from the emuline forum? (still can't get membership). Apparently someone finally dumped/distributed world's assets so now we can play it at home. I do have an issue though. Originally we could download A (and everything between likie A20 A20plus etc) through A3 from an old mirrors site on the forum. That site has been dead for ages now, the only source being Nyaa's torrents. Even now, those are all dead (namely MDX-2020072800 clean). Is there any current clean source for downloading everything again? I have both the mirror and nyaa compilations, the old mirrors being superior as nyaa's versions are missing a few songs, but i never did get the MDX-2020072800 clean installed (so I have a few missing song blocks). Would love to just delete it all and start from scratch, but from a reliable source this time.

Wow!!! I knew DDR World sucked, but I didn't know to what extent. This has to be the crappiest, stupidest, most confusing navigation system ever. This, plus the fact that songs don't even have their own background, the few background videos left are now tiny, the interface looks like an unfinished (and lame) Stepmania 5 theme, and the horrible dark background with horizontal lines looks like a stupid step editor instead of the actual game, not to mention the main songlists are now always the same generic anime-HatsuneMiku-vocaloid-wannabe 90 % of the time. I'm so lucky to have played DDR 2nd Mix, 3rd Mix, Solo 2000, 4th Mix, 5th Mix, MAX 2 and EXTREME, back when DDR was actually cool, before it became this... thing. Oh, and as far as I know, playing this thing is so expensive in most places. It's like the cherry on top of the cake. 🤦‍♂

It reminds me when I saw DDR X for the first time 😅 But I think i've seen so many new mixes appear and disappear over the years that sometimes it's hard to accept the change. I think the gameplay is ok, music is meh, the UI really sucks, the distribution is terrible, but it could be way worse. It's not enough to make me leave my home to go to an arcade when I have Stepmania at home, but I'd probably still play it if I was already at the arcade. I think around the time of 1st-3rd mix was a reallyyyy great period to be playing DDR. The scene was fantastic!

@@s34nvideos agree with you. For the gameplay i think it's not too bad, but not too good if we compared it with DDR 4th Mix - Extreme. Sadly, for the UI is really static and no inovation from the predecessors (even A series had a better UI than DDR World). Also for the song list selection, i think it's not way better than X3 vs 2nd Mix until A series which has many good licensed songs and many tons of good Konami Originals (please not to compare with Dancemania x DDR era which had many tons of best songs). I think DDR World should be upgraded more better in many sections next time (hope Konami hear this).
