The more i watch Alan ..the more i just love the design of Wave Rover 2...minimalistic...rides the waves like a dream ..no winches or stays...and just does the job with no fuss. Hopefully after a few years of sailing her ..word will spread that shes the best little vessel on the market. Fair Winds mate

7:40 What a wonderful part of the video. It's like sitting next to you on the aftdeck of Wave Rover, listening to you reminisce about your first ocean passage and reflecting on what it takes. Great film making! "The smaller the boat, the greater the challenge." I've also heard these variants: - The smaller the boat, the greater the fun - The smaller the boat, the greater the fear - The smaller the boat, the greater the sense of achievement

Coming off the Chesapeake, you went under the Lessner Bridge and entered the Lynnhaven Inlet. When you made that quick left turn, you passed a row of restaurants where one can dock and directly enter the restaurant. Had I caught this video a few days earlier, I would have suggested tying up at Chick's and ordering the fried jumbo shrimp. Delicious! Anyway, culinary pursuits aside, I wish you a smooth, sunny and safe passage over to the Azores, Alan.

This is such an exciting design and exciting project. She almost looks like the perfect minimalist low budget small boat for the long distance solo sailor. Note how she gives a hint of surfing with the following sea in the first half of this vid. Its lightweight design, twin bilge keels and underwater profile combined with the efficient easily reefed junk rig lends itself to fast down wind passages. Also of interest is no winches (apart from anything else winches are expensive!), and no stays which means less weight aloft and a main that can be eased much further forward. I can hardly wait to see how she performs during Alan's Atlantic crossing.

First thing I thought: it’s got to be over .6m. The boats using that canal will draw more than that, and the owners aren’t going to be the type to wait for high tide to go out! And as part of the KZbin peanut gallery I’m never wrong! 😂

I think I have mentioned it before but although I realise that there are very few times that you will have to go onto the foredeck whilst under way if you do have to you will be extremely vulnerable with very little to hang onto.
