I'm now resigned to not being able to pick up the Vulcan Mother before May 14. I wake up a little clearer headed and draw up a highly truncated riding route, including a 16-hour overnight ferry hop, that could possibly get me into Istanbul by May 18. Later in the morning, I take a 30-minute walk from my AirB&B to the Trevi Fountain. The place is overruun by tourists and I can't get out of there fast enough. But, the first view of monument still takes my breath away. What in heck were those Romans up to back then? On the way back, I walk past the presidential palace. In the evening, I go for drinks and dinner again with Allison and Salah. These hours with them at this wierd time for me will remain a highlight in a city where something blows my mind at every corner I turn. (Full disclosure: given that I couldn't fly the drone in any of these locations, I made all the aerial shots on Google Earth Studio.)
