Thank you for all the information in your videos, these are exactly the kind of things that I want to know when I have the good fortune to visit Rome again. I have been there several times, and my favourite place to stay was an Airbnb in Trastevere. I loved the apartment and neighbourhood so much that I returned a second time. The area is charming with a real buzz and lots of excellent food. On another visit to the city, I stayed in a small hotel in a side street near Trevi fountain. Although there were some restaurants serving really good food, the area felt cramped and crowded with too many shops selling tacky souvenirs.

That is my exact thoughts about the Trevi area. I know I never stayed there, but that’s really why I’ve never stayed there. I felt like I really didn’t need to stay there since I’ve been over there several times and that’s the vibe I get. You and me both, Love, Trastevere

Perhaps you are right. I have stayed in the Prati area twice but maybe 3 times will be the charm. I did like it as it was more of a typical day to day neighborhood and I did feel safe throughout the area. I will give it a try again someday. Thanks for your input.

Great Info for sure. You guys do a GREAT JOB! We have been Rome 3 times and use it as a base to go all over. We have stayed in the area of Piazza de Popolo which is great for Day Trips. leaving the city. We stayed in the Trevi district and it was a little more pricey and louder for sure. This past February we stayed at an Airbnb in Monti and loved it. Great view of the Coliseum. Loved the neighborhood restaurants/bars/shops> Shopped at a local grocery store chain called Conad which was pretty cool.. May have to check out the Camo de Flori on our next trip. You are probably right. A lot of it depends on when you visit for sure. What area of Rome do you live in?? My wife would loved to have a small place over there. Thanks again for sharing your videos. Between the 2 areas can be a hard decision. Good news you can't make a bad decision, as both are great. For me I know the Campo area better so I tend to go there but if I know Monti as well as I do Campo I may have a different opinion. If you are doing several day trip from Rome getting tot he station from Monti is easier. With high speed rain a day trip to Napoli is what I recommend for the first time. 1 hour each way which is less time than taking the bus across Rome. In Naples focus an historical center and eating the best food in Italy! Also the Spanish quarter is lots of fun. Everything is much less expensive in Naples. Want a great meal? Get to Nannella but get there a little before it opens for lunch or dinning.as the lines can be long. Very entertaining meal!

We stayed in Trevi on last visit to Rome. A 5-star hotel (Harry's Bar) about 150 metres from the Trevi fountain. It is a great location but is massively overrun by tourists and we were there in Oct 2022. If you are OK with massive over-tourism then I can highly recommend Trevi area because of the location. Watch out for the pickpockets at all times! We walked everywhere, day and night, seemed safe. I do agree with your top-3 arear because we have been to Rome about 10 times so far and I lived in Rome for about 12 months in the past (in the Viale Regina Margherita area). BTW - yes, we loved Tivoli too, last visited it during Oct 2022 trip to Rome. Another recommended visit tip - Ostia Antica, take a train for Rome Pyramida station in Rome, about 30-40 (?) minutes commuter train and walk to Ostia Antica ancient site from the train station. Note: the Roman ruins are uncovered so check weather forecast and dress appropriately - sun protection or rain protection.

We stayed near the Spanish steps on Via Del Corso Street. It was a very basic, small apartment, but it was all we needed and just a little over €100 a night. We would leave the apartment at 5/6am and walk to whichever site we wanted. We were first in line at the collosseum and the vatican museums. We only used a taxi once or twice and we used the freenow app to book, it was great and very cheap if you ask me. I definitely would prefer to stay somewhere quieter if we ever go to Italy again, though. There was a lot of homelessness and some aggressive beggers.

After watching the video, what does your gut tell you? I think it’s best to stick near the Lago Argentina/Como de Foti area. Everything is pretty much walkable from there with a few exceptions and when I say walkable, most things are within 5 to 10 minutes and some things much closer.

Number one you never mentioned about Uber, which is the easiest way to get around Rome if you don’t wanna walk cheaper than a cab easier than catching a bus. And the best place to stay in Rome is Largo Argentina. It is centrally located area safe you can walk anywhere from there in just a few minutes .

Well, I commented too fast. I see that you picked Largo. Argentina is the best which I’ve been at numerous times that is the best I’ve ever found. Thank you. Love your show.

From my experience, Uber is not the cheapest. They only had the Uber black in Rome and if you use the app FREENOW, it’s typically been less expensive than the Uber service in Rome. At least that’s my experience. Glad to hear you’ve had good luck with it. The official taxis really are not that expensive. It’s just that sometimes people get ripped off, Taking advantage of but with the app FREENOW, you can click on the set amount pre-agreed which is kind of nice, but I always use the meter.

That’s funny we both came to the same conclusion Largo. Argentina is the most central area in Rome. I expanded it to include Como de Fiori, which is only a few blocks away.

It is not like it is super unsafe or anything, there are several hotels in nearby, short walk to Santa Maria Maggiore. If the price is right go for it! I personally like to be in a more central location. I do not mind riding the metro or bus I just don't like being reliant on them

@@RozierRoma well im a person who likes to walk, im not catching the subway, from the hotel ferrarese it's just 15 minutes to the coliseum and from there i could walk to many other places, it's just the unsafe part of the termini station that worries me most, some people told that it wasnt safe at night, thats why i was asking, Thank you keep up with the good work

@@brunosousa5117 half of safety is in the mind if you don’t feel comfortable then it’s harder to relax and enjoy the evening even if you’re not in danger. Personally, I find the area more uncomfortable than actually unsafe if you are not going to take the metro or bus then I really recommend you find a more centrally located location. I know it looks close, but you’re quite a ways from, most of the things she came to Rome to see. Check out the air near Lago Argentina.

Prati is a neighborhood for people who have been to Roma many times and want a place that has great Roman restaurants and markets (Trionfale and Mercato Cola di Rienzo). We also like Monti, but it is becoming too turisti.

Did anyone else find Rome difficult to Navigate? A five minute walk from Piazza Novana to the Pantheon took 1/2 hour. I kept thinking I was headed in one direction but was actually going the opposite way. There's no grid! Its all narrow winding streets.😊

All ancient cities in Italy are like this. The streets grid was just something Romans did, in some measure: decumanus and cardo were the two main streets that crossed orthogonally in the centre of the city (the forum), and from them started the other streets. But the secondary streets were quite weirdily traced. And in the Middle Ages, when the cities were built on hills and enclosed in walls, the limited space and the defence needs brought to very narrow and winding streets.

Located in Tivoli, a short train ride from Rome, plus the town of Tivoli is great. The Airbnb has 2 bedrooms and cost about $100 per night, saving you hundreds per night compared to staying in the Rome center. It will be a better experience that you can imagine. Good luck!
