PTSD is one of the worst fear causes in the world today or otherwise. I suffer from it and so does my father when we lost my mother. But we keep trying to move ahead and we have made progress mainly because me and him are in it together. United we stand, Together we fall. He helps me and I help him and we will always do so. Our friends have helped us greatly too. The one thing about PTSD is no one can over come it alone and you need help at times to see what to do next. I nearly lost a friend over it but he was trying to make my life better not hurt me and we've since become greater friends and I've moved past one block thanks to him.

I don't know what it's like to suffer or feel PTSD. But I'm still sad that my Grandfather passed away. I still remember it. And I think my classmate might have PTSD too because his dad died in an accident. I was even sad when while watching Avengers Infinity War I saw Spider-Man disintergrated into dust when Thanos snapped his fingers, wiping out half of the humanity. And I even felt sad that Stan Lee died on 12th/11/2018. But I hope you will feel better. And so will I. 😉

Now I really know what's it like to suffer PTSD, which is when someone has a traumatic experience, or an experience that used to make them happy but doesn't anymore and the memories stick with them.

PTSD could also give you depression in terms of emotional feelings. So again, something that used to make someone happy sometimes doesn't anymore and they wanted it to make them happy again.

I too suffer from it after a car crash that killed my mother-in-law, my partner and I were in the backseat of the car. We went 80 miles an hour into a stone wall and destroyed a power line at the same time before flipping upside down. We were both fine, but she died. We actually think she had a heart attack before the crash as we were talking and chatting like normal and then she went quiet and was non responsive just before the crash.

Your version of Henry and Gordon's characters and story are the most in depth I've seen, and I think that a big part of that has to do with Alfred/98462, sure he may have been a jerk, but he definitely left an impact on not just the other engines but the people as well, a negative one but still an impact, especially Henry and Gordon (I mean that's kinda obvious, Alfred attempted to murder them), but anyway, you've done amazing character development for both Henry and Gordon.
@ShapeshifterRoxy
@ShapeshifterRoxy 5 жыл бұрын
Henry and Gordon's character development was indeed amazing. henry shouldn't let the death of a negative engine change his views about being a really useful engine. henry is always a strong and determined engine who is okay to be concerned about safety while being a really useful engine on the NWR while working along side his friends

@nicholetheotter1957
@nicholetheotter1957 5 жыл бұрын
ThomasSirHandel So true. While Henry does get scared, he’s not supposed to be a full-blown coward like what the show has been portraying since the HiT Era. In the Classic Era and RWS, he only gets scared if the situation is scary itself. Example, when he crashed into that goods train while pulling the Flying Kipper, he had a reason to feel scared since the signal and frozen points made him go on that line and he was unaware that the goods train was waiting. It was natural that Henry felt nervous after that accident as he thought it was going to be the end of him, but thanks to Sir Topham Hatt and William Stanier, Henry was given a second chance at life with a new stronger body that was able to cure his steaming issues once and for all. Henry knows that it’s OK to be nervous, but isn’t afraid to be brave to get out of a bad situation. A true meaning behind his title as the “enterprising engine”.

Amazing video. I noticed that outside of the few mentions of Alfred in the video, it appears that everyone either put those memories in lock and key letting it get moldy, or his ghost has been in the shadows as in any episode mentioning Alfred after his death never stated if his Ghost was put at ease or not. Given the situation that ghosts tend to linger in a place for a extended period of time... It's a safe bet that his Ghost is lurking around, especially since the Midnight Express video was left up to viewer interpretation for it to be canon or not.

It reminds me of Sorø accident in Denmark. It was in 1988 The train was heading towards Copenhagen, but under the ride the train had to switch track. The driver didn't slowed the train down so it ran off the tracks, over 70 person was hurt and 8 died and 8 seriously hurt. It is one of the most known train crashes in Denmark's history. Even though I wasn't in that crash, due to the fact I wasn't borned yet. I'm not afraid of riding in trains, but I always prepare myself for the worst to happen, is that a kind of PTSD?

RichmondCityRailfan Bravery was always what I saw with Henry. While he does get nervous or scared on occasion, he manages to overcome it, and during the time he had in his old shape, he often got worried about failing because of how badly built he was. But it was thanks to STH that Henry knew he had hidden potential which his rebuild was able to finally achieve, and saw him become a more confident engine.

I was - I suppose - that! Brave. I had to go into a hospital for a hospital operation, last October. I was scared then. Almost did a 180° Hard about and went back home. Henry's experience with the fuel tankers is a very similar fear. What convinced me to go through with the operation? T1E2H3!? Well, it was a hymn that was recorded by someone at Wells Cathedral, by it's choir! " I, The Lord of Sea and Sky " And that convinced me to go through with the operation. In the end - it turned out to be a life saving for me. Giving me 15 or 20 more years of life. If you ever do a sequel story to this. Please feel free to use MY story in it. I'd like to be the one who helps Henry with his phobia, putting it to rest. Stephen Farthing is the name. Consider the permission given.

@nicholetheotter1957
@nicholetheotter1957 5 жыл бұрын
Legendary Captain I always saw Henry as this character who is brave but also learns from experience. Like you said, his tunnel ordeal because he didn’t want his paintwork ruined was a huge mistake he made, because the soot from the tunnel ended up spoiling his paint anyway. He has had misfortunes like his Flying Kipper crashes. For example, when he crashed into that goods train, he was very shocked and confused because he was pulling the Flying Kipper so well because he wanted to prove himself as a really useful engine. He always wanted to be a better engine and show his full potential, and his rebuild was able to grant that wish by finally allowing him to function like a normal engine. Super Rescue was definitely where his growth paid off, as he successfully managed to push two failed diesels and their trains, with one of the two diesels, D7101 aka Bear, becoming his friend. Henry Sees Red also seems to be an example of triumph, as Henry was called out to help with the Express despite still wearing a red undercoat, causing him to be embarrassed. He even had to shunt a failed coach from the train by himself, which he wasn’t originally pleased about, and then had to puff up Gordon’s Hill on his own without any help. He knew that the undercoat wasn’t the best look for him, but knew he had to get his job done, being rewarded with his proper green coat in the end. Stories like these show that if Henry feels like he’s been knocked down, he always finds a way to get back up. While he has had misfortunes with the Flying Kipper, he still pulls it because he knew the accidents were not his fault, but also because STH knows that Henry is the most trusted engine for such a tough job.

Alfred made Henry felt disappointed,he should retire from Sodor so that he shall not bother Henry of what he is doing.Look at Henry,he is sad of pulling those flammable tanks.

This episode is great, but also realistic. A lot people do suffer from problems like this and it does remind them of traumatic experiences like Henry, good job on this episode.

This my second time watching this episode now, I feel its time to give my two sense on it. This is as good if not better than your Neil episodes, the topic is excellent subject matter. Its something so many of us can relate too, and using Henry for this will brilliant as he what i would deem as the most human esk in behaviours of all the thomas characters. You made a great point of talking helps, and most say its the road to recovery once it starts. If i were to make any changes to this episode, it would of been to use gordon, as given he experienced what henry did with Alfred, he would of made it far more contextiual to his past. Overall this is a fantastic thomas story as a whole in the community let alone your series. I feel you have found a real niche taking quite sensitive subjects that many avoid, and blend them beautifully into the world of Thomas. For that you deserve alot of praise. A suggestion perhaps for a future project could be looking at a darker side of railway preservation, do all engines who get rescued surrvivie or get the happy ending ? Or end up being used as back ups and spare parts for more better condtitioned engines instead of being fixed, or how living a life on static display is mentally for an engine. :) hope this helps.

This one is sadly relatable. I have several phobias from events that took place in my Early Childhood to Mid-Childhood. But there's one thing that's different with PTSD and phobias. It can be treated but never cured. As anything that reminds the person of that memory that caused the person to avoid such things will cause them to relive the memory in front of them. When it's not really happening.

Brick Bro05 I would love to see a story like that, considering how much Gordon and Henry have learned from their experiences. It would be interesting to see how Alfred will stand up to a Gordon who learned to keep his ego under control, and of course the now much braver and stronger Henry.
