S4, EP3: Golden Oldies (Audio Story)

This week's audio story features the rare pairing of Edward and Toby, with Edward of course being one of my favorite characters.
During the summer season, Devious Diesel is brought to Sodor to help out, but makes fun of Edward and Toby's age. However, as the case might be, Diesel soon lands himself in a bit of trouble...

That was superb. A Toby and Edward story works splendidly. I love how Trevor stood up for Edward and the part where Terence told Diesel off. The rewards felt like references to future Series 5 stories yet to come :) .

I loved how Trevor stood up for Edward. This feels like a lost episode from Season 5 (with some foreshadowing of Toby's Discovery and Happy Ever After).

That is the best rewritten version of the annual story and "Thomas and the Old-Timers" by Richard Jordan ever!

I agree. In “Thomas and the Old-Timers”. Thomas feels so one-dimensional. I know he was a dick in the earlier seasons but come on. He has high respect for Toby and Edward especially and instead he judges them by their age. I think this is one of episodes where a fan overuses Thomas’ dick persona way too much.

This was a great story! It feels like a lost Season 5 episode, what with the references to Toby's Discovery and Happy Ever After. I also loved the scene where Trevor stood up for Edward.

Yeah that silly diesel, he should know better not to be selfish to Edward and Toby because they are both really useful Golden Oldies in fact they are both special and reliable and proud of their own work no matter what

Yes, you don't get a lot of interaction with Toby and Edward. And it's not everyday you see them interacting with Diesel, either. Heck, you don't see these three interact with the road vehicles! 😜 This story makes a good prelude to "Toby's Discovery" and "Happy Ever After". Love the makeshift faces you've assembled for Thomas and Trevor. How do you do it?

Brilliant story featuring a fascinating dynamic between two of the oldest engines who never had an episode in the show together! This is another one of my favorite stories from your series! This definitely could've fit well within S5 as Edward never got an episode to himself as well (given by him and Toby's awards near the end), and one that I would call Very Useful Engine/Old Reliable Edward done right. I even take this over Thomas & the Old-Timers for while it is good, I feel that Thomas was a little too mean-spirited towards his elders. Diesel really fits the bill for belittling Edward and Toby other than the bigger engines.

Nice story and this is why Diesel was absent in Season 4 or 5 especially Sir Handel. So I still confirmed to adapted your stories as my own adaptation season 4 was still continued on.

Can you do a story of what would happened after the events of Middle Engine? Maybe can be that The Fat Controller would apologize Percy of what happened to him in the Coal Plant and to Arry and Bert of what they made to Percy and making a middle engine to Percy and James. Maybe that would be the reason why Arry and Bert would be working in the Scrapyard since season 7.
