I remember 1988 Hot Dog Shootout at finger lakes Columbia,Mo. Denny, Chad Pederson, John Kitsch, etc. Emig was there in 1989 with Donny Schmidt.

Another great one!! Love this podcast! I grew up racing in the 70’s and 80’s and guys like Denny and Budman were among my hero’s. Sometimes, instead of watching stupid movies, I will pick a year from the past and watch every national, GP and/or supercross (in order) that I can find on KZbin. Never got to see them in the day….never got to learn more about the riders themselves back then either. This podcast has become an important part of the sports archive.

Every time buddy is on. WTS he is MVP he always compliments the the show his stories are great and he knows when to add or listen he would probably be my front runner for permanent co-host plus I remember seeing them on the R&D Suzuki 80 on TNN Sports cavalcade!! Loki would love to see Jason Lawrence j-law be a guest and one that I would love to have around for whiskey throttle Danny Magoo Chandler

I remember watching Denny come from last place in a first turn pile up at the 1990 Foxboro SX (old stadium) to win it. I always enjoyed his style and easy going attitude-always approachable for an autograph in the pits. The late 80s - early 90s era Suzuki teams were the best. Thanks Ping!

This is a great show! I grew up in the 80’s with guys like Willie Surratt and Mike Keidrowski. Back then those guys were racing every weekend all over the state! I grew up in SoCal and now I’m living in NorCal. We have a ton of tracks up here that have races every weekend. You can go practice at the tracks M-F and then race on the weekend. We have Argyle, Marysville, Hangtown, Oatfield and a few others. We get one big amateur National, The Dodge National at Hangtown. Then in May or July we have the big pro National at Hangtown. My cousins are racing every weekend up here. It’s great for our sport. SoCal has all these tracks but don’t offer much racing. You can go ride those tracks everyday but not much racing. When I was a little kid at 5-6 I had pictures of guys like Chuck Sun, Brad Lackey on my walls! Then it was guys like Mcgoo, Hannah, Glover, Bell, then Ward, RJ, Dogger, Bradshaw, then McGrath, Keidrowski, Larocco. I’ve been a fan forever and never miss a SX or MX now.

#Salute to Pat Alexander for putting together a program for Denny after what Honda did to him. I was happy to see Denny get that 1990 125 East Coast Championship. A few riders got done dirty by Honda that season. They pulled the rug out of a lot of young kids that season with revoking contracts that were signed on the dotted line (Button, Craig, Jones and Denny). I loved watching Denny on those 1988 and 1989 Kawasaki KX125's in that MS Racing gear and Scott goggles. Also his father Dave is a great guy and loves to bench race and talk about the HIStory of this great sport that we all love and enjoy. Great show.

Good show! Nice to see Denny! Them dam navicular bones! My wrist has never been the same. Had to quit racing because I couldn't hold on anymore. We had to have all our wrist strength to hold them 125cc wide open like we did. I miss the days of racing with Denny and alot of these other guys!!

Great episode! A couple epic quotes. “Me being the idiot and my dad being an all around Know it all, we made a great team”. “If you ever find yourself in a lake, sink to the bottom and run like hell!” I feel like we need to get an episode of old moto dads. The stories would be awesome with guys like Don Stevenson, Randy Pingree, and Grant Langston’s dad.

Ok talking about odd crashes., in 1993/4 at Las Vegas SX the was an incident where I a rider endo’d on a triple bails and lands on the back of another riders seat. It happen in front of me but was looking elsewhere, my boss said holy sh’ ‘ .. when I looked I saw a bike with two riders slide into turn, stop then dude on back hops off the bike and rider takes off. They talked about in Cycle news saying if you have footage of this, even though it was illegal to video, come forward you won’t get in trouble. Anyway wonder if you have any info

Awesome hearing and seeing Buddy on the show. Denny is exactly the same in real life as he is on social media. Loud mouthed, inaccurate and direct. (No issue with that). I don't like the guy but it was a good story so worthy of an episode due to the history 👍looking forward to more top 15 career riders making the cut on the show 😀

Never a Stevenson fan and with last weeks episode with chicken and this week I’m reminded again of how boisterous and full of himself he is loving the sound of his own voice. Last week it was almost as if it was Langston butting in constantly as if the show was about him. This week I’m like “oh …? another Stevenson episode. Agonising “ blah blah bla mr me” show. Buddy was and always a breath of fresh air. So down to earth and humble.
@clayontwowheels25622 жыл бұрын
@@8931888 yeh I totally agree. Denny is a mouth. No one could get a word in. His nickname should be Mr Interjection. The worst move I made was to follow him on instagram. Do yourself a favour. Don't! Lol. Stevenson = the know it all king rider who spent his entire career 5th to 15th 🤣

Another great show! I grew up with posters on my wall! I was born in 1969 and Bad Brad Lackey, Chuck Sun were the guys I idolized! Then it just snowballed from there! I got my first bike when I was 5 when we moved out to Canyon Country near Indian Dunes. I had a little Honda Z-50 then moved up to an XR-75. We went to all the Superbowls of Motocross at the LA coliseum, the rose bowl etc. Miller beer was the title sponsor and my dad was good friends with the VP Don Shashaw and he would get us vip tickets. I loved the races and it just stuck with me. Watching guys like Johnny-O, Mark Barnett, McGoo, Glover, Mike Bell, RJ, Wardy, Jim Holly, Rick Ryan and on and on. Mouse McCoy was a good friend growing up., Mike Keidrowski, Willie Surratt was a good friend. I used to go to his house in 10th grade and wear his gear, jump on one of his Honda CR 125 practice bikes and we’d go ride in the hills. He used to make me jump some crazy shit! If I refused he would say ok we are going home! So of course I would have to jump what he wanted me to! I’d be going to a party on Friday night, driving down the road and there would be Mike Keidrowski running and training. Ask Jim Bones Bacon about Vasquez cyn. It was our Richie canyon for you Temecula guys. Tracks made out of the terrain we had. Lots of guys used to ride and practice out there. Larry Brooks was always out there! Those big thick glasses behind his goggles, Mercedes Gonzalez used to ride out there. Mouse, Surratt, Kehoe, Keidrowski, and more. I still go to SX religiously every year! I drive down to LA for A-1 every year. I’m living in NorCal now and Hangtown is close. So I always hit Oakland SX and Hangtown. I’m still a diehard fan of MX and SX. I still like to watch Lorettas, see the up and coming talent about to make their pro debuts! The Whisky throttle show is fantastic! Great interviews with some of the greatest riders from back in the day! No more Motoworld as we now get to watch all the races online or tv! Not like back in the day when you might catch a race on ESPN, or watch highlights on Motoworld. Keep up the great work Ping! Love all your shows!
