The only problem with that is when you are expecting a call from say a medical facility or a service tech and you have to answer all the calls to make sure it isn't the one you're waiting on. 🙄

Yes, when the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY was started, Cell Phones were actually protected, it was illegal and a crime to call a cell phone with ANY TYPE of AUTOMATED SYSTEM. So, yes, cell phones were OFF LIMITS back then.

I paid off my card when I was abroad in 2017 but there was an error & I never got told, never used the card again..a year later they chased it down, I paid off half and they closed it out. Then collectors from portfolio recovery started spamming me 5-6 times a day from then on, I've gotten their BS calls daily for the next 7 years, hoping it stops this year haha

For two years or so, I have been getting 30-40 scam calls every day. Most of them are Indian scammers. And they all look like they're coming from the US, most from my state. I have to pick up some because if they're from towns where my doctors and other medical professionals are located, it may be someone I need to talk to. I have a lot of health issues. I'm also disabled and home most of the time, and sometimes I need to nap for long periods of time during the day. I silence my phone but I still hear the buzzing and it often keeps me from resting properly. I have tried ignoring them but that hasn't even decreased the amount of calls I'm getting. It also makes it really hard to do anything else on my phone when I'm constantly interrupted with the screen changing to an incoming call.

I got a couple of robo-calls from a company selling funeral services. They tend to say their name so quickly, if they even provide that, and quickly say the name of the company so that you don't understand them (probably so you can't report them to the FCC). Each time I said I didn't need a plan, but on the 2nd one, I asked for them to stop calling me and to take me off their calling list. The lady actually told me to F-off and called me a mother-F'er, and threw in a F-you. Then she proceeded to call me up to 7 times a day using spoofing phone numbers. I finally just let numbers I didn't have in my contact list ring until they hung up or quickly shifted it to voicemail. If no message was left, I blocked the number they used (even though there are millions of numbers they can spoof with). After 3 months, the numbers of calls are finally starting to decrease.

I may get up to 5 a week, usually even less than that, most often it may be only 1 or 2, if that. I have told companies I deal with, call me with a GD Robot Caller, and I'll HANG UP, then BLOCK YOUR NUMBER. No REAL LIVE PERSON, YOU WILL BE BLOCKED. Sure has cut down on the number of automated calls I receive. And if my phone reports the number as suspected spam I automatically block them, those calls never get answered. Blocking numbers I don't ever want to hear from again is great. No stamps, no mailing in requests, just block their number and done!

Sometimes when I'm bored, I'll answer these scam calls (hoping to get a live person because it's more fun) but when I think I'm talking to a robot I will ask them to say the word potato. Generally the call will disconnect because the robot can't say potato. Also, if at anytime the robot asks you a yes/no question, most often "Can you hear me?" NEVER say "yes" because if you do they will ruin your MF'ing life. Scammers can use this tactic to record your voice saying "yes" and then use that recording to fraudulently authorize purchases or other actions on your accounts, essentially confirming your identity without your knowledge or consent.

I love that this popped up now. Because here we are, nearing 2025. I wish something had happened. I have had 27 phone calls this last week. My phone blocked 21 of them automatically (thank you technology) however, the other 4 were robocalls/scam calls. And 2 were my brother, because we got disconnected during our one call. It took for technology to make the step, not the FCC... I am kind of sad this didn't pan out like it should have.
