Correction Alta Sierra Ski Resort is closer to 7000, the Alta Sierra community below is 5700, and the Greenhorn Mountain summit is 6000. The Keyesville Masacare is also a known historical site, closer to Wofford Heights, between Keyesville and Kernville.

You guys are in a Jeep what do you mean come back with another vehicle? Is it 2wd?

Come back with someone else to help with recovery if needed. This was an area we weren’t familiar with and the roads had deep ruts and some washouts due to mud and rain. The forest service told us about the mine but added that we probably wouldn’t make it the entire way because of storm damage.
