As a kid i was standing in the long line to buy tickets for James Bond. Now is the same impatience from one to the other Boris' episodes of photo editing. I'm not a beginner, but it's still informative. And live editing is damn mesmerizing!

Excellent! I've only seen one other person go over the mask manager but that was for a really old version of darktable. Once again your clear and thorough explanation wins the day. I cannot wait for the color adjustment episodes you teased because that's where I struggle the most. Thank you so much for producing these videos.

👍👍 After my third loop through this content I feel confident with most of the demonstrated 'tricks'. Why three times? - Well, I am getting older (not because of Darktable, to the contrary, the complexity is keeping the stiffening braincells flexible).

Wonderful edits and a great episode on masking. I also appreciated the particularly nice bonus at the end on how to use colour harmonies with the channel mixer. Many thanks to you, Boris!

An excellent demonstration of Boolean operators . I have been using masks for some time but you showed me some new elements. Many thanks. I very much look forward to your quick demo of the upcoming video. The adjustment you made resulted in a very 'clean' feel to the colours of the image and reminded me of Kodak colour transparency film. I would very much like to buy you a coffee. You deserve some recompense for producing some of the very best tutorial videos on You Tube.

Mask management is very powerful. Still the concept of using references to the same path across modules leaves some confusion or uncertainty: if you adjust the feathering to suit the purpose of this instance, how can you be sure not to break the results of other modules using the same mask, that need a different feathering? Or is mask manager only managing the paths and the mask parameters are module (instance) specific?
@bernym4047
@bernym4047 Жыл бұрын
@@thomaswilde9923 I can't imagine a situation where you would need to change the feathering on a drawn mask for use in a different module. However, you need to regard a created mask as a unique entity complete with all of its adjustments (feathering, contrast, blurring etc). If you use a mask in another module and change any of its parameters, it's no longer suitable for the module for which it was originally created . If you want to re-use a drawn mask and just retain its shape but change its parameters, you can make a copy of the original (using mask manager) and rename it. That way the original mask will not be changed and you will not be confused as to which mask you are currently working with. Hope that clarifies it for you.

@@bernym4047 Thanks, that makes sense. The question occurred to me during Boris’ editing in this video, where he frequently reused existing masks and changed the feathering for the particular module. Admittedly, I did not pay close attention when he used a copy and when a reference.

Hello Boris. May be that color Harmony is not present in darktable for Windows? I can't find it. Thanks

Hello, congratulations for your videos. Thanks to you, I learned many functions of the Darktable software. I have a quick question: how were you able to change the color of a path in the masks (as standard it's grey and you set it to green)? Many thanks for your tutorials !
@s7habo
@s7habo Жыл бұрын
In the bottom right in the darkroom where you have icon to "toggle guidelines", with right mouse click you can change color of guidelines witch also changes color of shapes.
