I have a little experience with the LA-2A having owned two units over the last 20 years. Dont want to say that Im surprised how well Josh nailed this. There's no good reason to spend 6k on a UA unit when this one is close to spot on and also giving you a couple other must have units.

I liked the Stam best, for sure, but I liked the Klark Teknik better than the Warm Audio, and that, I was NOT expecting! Thanks for posting!

How does the stam compare to the Comp-2A
@RedStoneProductions Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I have not had the chance to try the Comp-2A myself, so I cannot give you an informed answer to your question.

The Golden Age Comp2A is great! It compresses the way an LA2A should, but the midrange and top end are a little too brittle. Swapping the tubes out as instructed in the manual gives a sound closer to the original LA2A.

How do we get the one like yours w the large faceplate? The one on stam website looks like the smaller one. Thanks.

It's a custom order to have it like that, but the insides are exactly the same.

For me, the best sounding is SA-2A Slow

I can hear the difference when isolated, but let's be honest, in a full mix (unless you are stacking tracks pretty heavily) I don't think I could even tell. For the $$$, I'm sticking with the Klark Teknik.

Fair Enough ;)

In my experience it's quite the opposite. The more things you process with cheap gear, you the more you notice it as an overall sound on the whole mix

I have the Klark Teknik KT-2a and upgraded the optocell to the Kenetek T4b and tubes to the Harma Retro and I prefer the performance/sound. Would be interesting to hear how the KT-2a stands up with these mods.

Hi Richard, thanks a lot for your comment! Since you have already those mods in place, why don't you produce a review and we'll be happy to share it with our audience!!

Yeah why dont you do that!?

Actually I think Warm sounded the least desirable in all of the comparisons, surprisingly!
