I did in 1991. I bought a Colt Delta Elite on the way home from swear in. I own an SA-35 which has retired my FN Hi-Power to the gun safe..

After waiting 1 1/2 years myncall finally came and I picked my SA35. Very clean fit and finish. I also have a Terry Tussey tuned Browninf High Power. Since I've retired thr Browning, I swapped the sear and hammer from the tuned Browning to the SA35. Fits and functioned checked it. Works. Now I have a new SA 35 with an instant tuned Terry Tussey trigger! Also have some old Browning HP magazines with Pachmayr bumper pads. Thr SA35 comes with 1 flush fit magazine so I bought 4 more and swapped the base plates with the bumper pads so I now have SA35 magazines woth impossible to find bumper pads on them.

I do look forward to this pistol . I was lucky enough to have the Canadian Military pay for my 9mm ammo while competing with the Browning Hi power. The only pistol to never lose a battle as it was used by both the Allies and Axis.

So gorgeous. I want one. But, more importantly, SA just became my favorite gun company. I love the heritage aspect of firearms and Springfield has that in spades with a modern Garand, modern 1911s, and now and updated Hi Power. I hope many will join me in making this a success. But I also have selfish reasons. Imagine SA continuing this line of heritage firearms with a modern Luger using a staggered magazine and modern sights!? Yummy. And then maybe a Nagant revolver strengthened to shoot .327 Federal Magnum and with a trigger humans can actually pull. Pinch me, I'm having a happy dream. And how about the Springfield Broomhandle? That would be so corny. Sig Sauer ruined their P220 and P226 lines with light rails...and then after ruining them, they basically discontinued them completely because...I guess...people stopped buying them. They used to have a huge variety of P220 and P226 pistols available and now they make one variant of each. And the worst part about it was that after they decided to slap a rail on those guns, they just straight-up stopped making the non-railed versions altogether. Nobody wants a rail on a Hi-Power.

Historically speaking, handguns are poor weapons for self defense and worse for combat. The US Army recognized this reality from the First World War making SIX MILLION M1 Carbines in WW2. Handguns are OVERHYPED, OVERPRICED and UNDERDELIVER in terms of accuracy. The CCW permit community also OVERHYPES handguns. The US Army did studies after the First World War to determine if any German soldiers were killed with all the .45 caliber handguns issued to officers and soldiers. The results of studies of German medical records showed almost NO German soldiers were killed by American handguns. The US Army worked with contractors for a light carbine shooting a 7.62x33mm bullet of about 110 grains. The M1 Carbine was a godsent to soldiers and Marines who had to carry heavy ammunition, mortar base plates, heavy radios, and other bulky equipment around but still needed a self defense weapon. The M1 Carbine was a much better solution than a handgun. It was easier to shoot, easier to train inexperienced soldiers on but still gave an accurate range out to about 125 to 150 meters. In theory the M1 Carbine could hit outwards of 300 meters but most soldiers probably killed their enemy soldiers at ranges of 50 to 100 meters or closer. The M1 Carbine was a huge success in WW2. Just remember why the US Army made SIX MILLION M1 Carbines during WW2 with heavy use in the postwar world conflicts, police and security forces. Handguns are pieces of garbage, inaccurate, overpriced and overhyped.
