Like I said during our recent Q&A, a video will be coming on the SAM5 situation. That said, keep inmind, people aren't reporting exploding guns, loss of headspace, or other dangerous things. Some are simply saying that their carrier tail is deforming. Mine has a minor amount of peening, but nothing bad and it stopped after say 200 rounds. Fox has thousands of rounds through his. I'll look at it this weekend when i see him again and report back soon.

Did FL actually build it? or just make the receiver? They did sell virgin receivers for DIY'ers to use themselves. On top of that, what is the condition of the original parts from the parts kit? Keep inmind that Russia never used a sidefolding AK in 5.45x39 based around a milled receiver. After the AKM came around in 1959, Russia dropped that type of receiver.

All i did was swap FSBs for one with 24mm threads, and then swap to ARM9 furniture. Also used the 'SAW' pistol grip from Arsenal rather than the ARM9 one because the SAM7R does not have the leftside selector (though one could be added I suppose). Oh and the sling is a typical modern black Bulgarian type. That's it and she's a great shooter.

Hey what do you guys think is the best made, quality AK47 ( complete ) bolt as is, to run or buy for an AKM / AK-47 style rifle ? An I don't mean the bolt carrier, but just the complete bolt set ( bolt, firing pin / striker, extractor ).. As far as the pretty standard Romanian bolts ( 100$s ), Russian bolts (150$s ), Hungarian bolts, Bulgarian bolt, Polish bolts, Yugoslavian bolt or a German / East German bolt ( 150 - 250$'s + ).. Usually new or old refurbished surplus, or Idk I guess even new U.S. made bolts.. I don't know if the prices necessarily reflect quality or if it's more so just based on the availability of these. An assuming that they are all of equal "good condition," are there any that are built better, stronger or of better quality over all reliability.? An does anyone know WHERE to find and order titanium or even tungsten AK47 / AKM firing pins or striker pins whatever online..?
@misha56702 жыл бұрын
You are over-thinking. This isn't an AR15. Any authentic military grade bolt will be as durable/reliable as any other. Russian bolts aren't super-stronger than say Romanian or anything like that.
@jackjohnson2912 жыл бұрын
Like Misha said, it doesn’t matter really. Just be sure to check the headspace, cause you never know…
@misha56702 жыл бұрын
@@jackjohnson291Yep, and headspace not being right doesn't mean a bolt is 'bad', just that it doesn't work with your particular trunnion/barrel. At the factory, they fit bolts until things work properly. Well actually they press the barrel and pin it at...nevermind, point stands that AK bolts are not drop-in like with the AR15. They are more like the FN FAL. So best to have 3-4 bolts and use the one that passes gauge tests.

@misha56702 жыл бұрын
When i bought my original SA M-5, Green was one of the options. Actually back then, it was in stock more than the black. It didn't matter much to me since I was going to swap out furniture anyway. Ended up putting a different stock and HGs on mine within a year. If we are defining models down to different furniture types installed at Arsenal, I would say that the bakelite version of the SAS M7 Classic is possibly the rarest? Only 50 or so of those were released. And then there were those prototype models like the SLR104CR that KVar sold off a few years back too. I'd enjoy playing around in Arsenal's version of the HK Grey Room, know what I mean?

I gotta quit watching your videos, as I always end up kicking myself for selling what I used to have. I had #0016 at one point, of the first batch they made. I think it was a little cursed though. I bought it recently second hand, as the first owner found they over-drilled the gas port and drilled into the rifling on the far side of the barrel. After he got it back from them re-barreled he soured on it and sold it to me. I put two mags through it and the stock cracked. I sent them the old stock so they could color match it, as they instructed, then that was the last I heard of it. I emailed a month or so later and they said they never got it, and they sent me a stock anyway, which didn't come anywhere close to matching color. I had a surplus stock that was painted, so I found that wood matched nearly perfect, so I finished stripping the paint and refinished it. I ended up selling it after it sat awhile.

I completely understand what its like to get soured on a firearm. That was how i felt about the AMD65 for a few years, but luckily today, the TGI version is one of my all-time favorites.
