"writers not Jay z but Langston"....knowledge on the real. The only other rapper I've heard reference Langston Hughes was Nas. And to have Professor Griff in the video I almost lost it. I know why u not mainstream because u waaayyy too talented and that makes u a problem. You are truly a talented lady. I'm praying u make it to the moon and beyond. Salute from the 252 Rocky Mount NC I'm now a fan

She not underrated. She purposely kept out of mainstream because her ideas are liberating and the powers that be don't want poor folks to start fighting back against the system.

6:47 I learned about quilombos when I was looking up capoeira. They were communities formed by people who had escaped from slavery. They used capoeira, which is a martial art hidden in dance, to escape--break dancing was inspired by it.

It was like illegal in Brazil till like the 90s. You could be arrested for it cause it's a brotherhood/family thing. It's a rich history of how to be in life with it. You want to flow with life and let your enemy destroy himself. I had the opportunity to be taught as a kid. We are a great people.👁️

Well I just learnt something interesting just now. I'll be looking into this... So, I see that's maybe why its called @Break@ dancing!? Woah, kinda mind blown a little here. I 1st though, right, I must look into P.L the man they are talking of in class... So glad I went into the comments. Thanks for sharing that buddy & the comment above.

Very similar thing happened in the Philippines when the Spanish colonized them. They had a *very fervent* martial art (arnis) and the Spanish had a very tough time with it during the 1600 through 1700's. Once they were able to successfully colonize the islands they declared Arnis as illegal to practice, nor were swords no longer allowed to be carried in public. During this time the native population concealed the art in forms of dance and plays of historical battles both as a form of entertainment for the conquistadors, but also as a teaching mechanism for the population to keep the martial art alive. It's quite interesting as now, likely due to having to conceal it within dance and other theatrics, there are demonstrations that are to songs. What makes it interesting is that in Arnis there aren't anything comparable to "forms" like in other martial arts. It's mostly a combination of strikes, grappling or disarm techniques put into a dance form.

Christopher CJX Joseph closest they’ll get to this is Kendrick Lamar. They can’t play anything this real. Notice how they loved David banner when he was on “Cadillacs on 22s” and “Play.” They don’t even want to see him on “Amy” now. Doesn’t help their cause.
