Making it law, South Africa has to have gas companies set aside a percentage of gas produced for South Africa. The Gas company will drill in South Africa and pump it to Namibia where it will process it then sell it back to South Africa at a higher rate. In Western Australia, more than 10 years ago, the state government made it compulsory for gas companies to set aside 15% of gas produced for state consumption. At that time, the other states of Australia laughed at this. Today, these states have been paying high prices for gas. The irony here is that Australia is drowning in gas.

Leave that resource just where it is till we have a new government. Otherwise that 60% is guaranteed to find its way into personal bank accounts instead of reaching us.

But, the maritime boundary off the Orange River mouth between Namibia and South Africa was defined back in ca. 2004/13 when Forest Oil was prospecting the Ibhubesi Gas Field. Bowman and Gilfillan' Oil and Gas division was involved, the maritime attorney was the late NTunbridge, afaik.

The S2EMG was designed by a South African. It is a unit that generate electricity. It come in all sizes. No overhead lines required, no maintenance, no municipal cables etc. This is the future for electricity supply. You put the unit at the source of use. Imagine, you do not require to re-charge an electric vehicle. Good for boats, shiips, planes, mines, factories, house holds etc etc

Make South Africa a beacon of good governance and shared wealth for all its people. Give 70% beneficiation to our own people, 15% to other African countries, and 15% business to trade partners. Please dont be greedy. Remember to leave enough for the future generations to benefit!

This is not new news, as a child in the early 60's my step grandfather had a geologist friend who had been commissioned to explore the field and reported that there was a lot of oil. He was stonewalled after the discovery. A friend also in the early 60's had family whose land had been expropriated in southern Namibia, then SWA, after black sludge had been discovered when looking for water.

Norway richest country in the world because of competent governance. Would have been so without oil also, just not as rich, for the same reason. As to fracking - its a no, no. It will be disastrous for the environment - geo engineering to put it mildly, that will add to climate change on the long run.
