@tonitappous2422 Жыл бұрын
@@vetpara I disagree completely. The first prize for the DA and for our beautiful country which barely works anymore, would be an outright majority for the DA in the 2024 polls. The DA definitely wants to win outright and to save SA! But it relies on your vote to be able to do so!! The DA difference is clearly seen across the country where the DA governs with a majority eg Western Cape , Midvaal, Kouga and more recently uMngeni.. See " Chris Pappas : The KZN mayor who threatens the ANC ", Daily Maverick. The second prize would be a DA led Rainbow Coalition/ Moonshot Pact at a national level , with a strong DA to provide clear direction and the skills needed to fix our broken country. The problem is that ActionSA ( a DA break - away party) is more obsessed with unseating the DA as the Official Opposition than it is about unseating the ANC!! The real trouble - makers in the Rainbow Coalition are Action SA and also the PA. The PA routinely flip flops and betrays the DA (and the Rainbow Coalition) just to get the best positions for itself. The DA is correct to be wary of such a political party .See "How accusations of 'arrogance' gave cover to the ANC's power grab in Joburg ", Politicsweb. We truly need a strong DA for a better future for our country and for the future of our children. Surely you can see this? Only the DA is experienced and honest enough to fix the mess and very deep crises that we face as a country on very many levels! See " Leon Schreiber: DA now draws the most support in urban SA ", Businesslive.
@vetpara Жыл бұрын
@@tonitappous2422, that is great... but it is completely unrealistic and slightly ignorant in my view. In 2019 the DA lost to CR17 on the left and the FF+ on the right. They panicked and kicked out their only chance of transforming and hence chance of ruling with an outright majority. Ironically, if you see the amount of support ActionSA got from six municipalities, people believe and want to vote for a non-racial, representative, capitalist party who have a pro-poor but fishing rod instead of a fish approach. No one can argue that the DA governs well and cleanly, but they represent and have transformed really poorly. In my view, they are confusing a big piece of the WC vote as being pro-DA and are neglecting that a big portion of it could be anti-ANC (They did the same thing in 2017 with the anti-Zuma gains). In other words, perhaps the colored community felt that they were better represented by the DA than the ANC. It would be ignorant not to expect a big swing towards Gayton McKenzie and the PA, since he would surely represent the colored community even better than the DA. I suspect the DA will need to learn to play nicely with the PA, or they could risk losing the WC.

We have a long way to go in my experience. I've spent more than a decade working with metros, municipalities, large organisations and communities. Experience taught me that the agreements between sociopolitical structures and the business community are very fluid. This is mostly because communities lack stable socio-political leadership structures. These structures are mostly driven by personal interest groups. The moment they do not see any direct short term benefit for them, they break the agreement. If members of such socio-political structure lose trust that they will benefit, you have a breakaway. Strong coalitions depend on trust and stability. Trust between the parties and stability in leadership. Other than in the Cape Provence we lack such stability. Hence my conclusion that we have a long way to go and 2024 does not see the South African socio political landscape maturing to this level.

If the opposition party leadership don't care nough to amalgamate into a single opposition party, with the potential to rule, why should voters support them? In addition, the ANC is likely to remain in power until such time as the opposition matures.

Can someone tell the DA - for all the good they do - just tell them from a pure leadership facilitative perspective is to get over their complex of wanting to call all the shots. They need to get with the narrative that it is a collective effort.

At this point in time the DA needs to be very careful what they do. Every step they take should be well debated in their own ranks. I am at a point where I considering shifting my support. What percentage of ANC supporters still believe that if they vote for DA that "appartheid" will return. This is a point that must be reitterated. SA is now a democratic country and appartheid will not be brought back. I believe that a huge percentage is scared that it will happen. I feel that a bigger than a third of the ANC could vote otherwise. Thank you for your platform and bring people in the know to talk to us. Keep it up.

I have been very interested in what Frans Cronje says, but and I say but the reason black voters will not support any white party, and we have seen this in the coalition’s, the one thing that the white voters do not take into consideration is that the black culture is so different to our way of thinking and we are seeing this with the Putin debacle.

Best comment of the day... you’ve started connecting the dots. Even some of us so called “coconuts” or “clever blacks” as madam Zille calls us 😅... tried the whole non racial politics thing... joined and voted DA?😅. And then we saw what happened to Lindiwe Mazibuko, Patricia de Lille, Mmusi Maimane, Phumzile Van Damme, Mbali Ntuli... and the list goes on and on 😂 Now the entire top leadership of the DA is pure white, when whites only make 7% of the population... or only one third of DA voters... huh 😌🤷♂️ The DA taking a public stance to say they’ll arrest a leader of a country that supported our parent’s struggle for liberation... from a government that tried to de-legitimize our existence...🧐🤔🙆♂️ That was a major software update in our heads☝️😌 If you can’t even convince someone like me who has assimilated to a lot of western ideas...😂 Lol... I just don’t know 🤣😂😅🤷♂️ I’ve seen the light and have been forced to remember who and what I am... I’m going back home, where I belong

The DA are doing nothing to clean the mess that statement made, even though by now, it is clear, by the countless interviews of people attesting to the fact that Russia is one of the main players who assisted black South Africa with liberation, they simply don't care, this posture doesn't look good, and poor Alan Winde, he allowed himself to be sucked in, to matters of international relations, national policing issue's, and the list goes on, he is a Provincial government leader, Steenhuisen was out taking pictures and trips to Ukraine, when it's time to make announcements of arrests, the buck gets passed to poor Alan, shame on them for bullying the poor man into doing something so silly, it is him, who has to walk around with this stench.

I think that SA needs a few political groupings to offer people a better choice. My options would be (1) an ANC aligned coalition (2) a DA aligned coalition (3) an EFF aligned coalition and (4) An Afrikaner aligned coalition. The 4th option may seem a bit odd, but I believe that the DA had the opportunity to provide Afrikaners that option, but for some reason, they digressed, and their arrogance and refusal to compromise is a real weakness. I would also split the ANC and the EFF as they need to be independent so that they can stick to the mandate of their supporters.

Alot of people are going to be shocked and disappointmented come 2024. Thereafter, they will pack their bags to the greater Western World bitter as gall. The people are angry with the ANC, but not as angry as YOU are!!!! Either way, South Africa will be 12th strongest global economy by 2035.

Very nice and indepth discussion indeed. My question though would be, why do we think the fall of the ANC is attributed to the rise of other parties? If I remember properly, the last election had the lowest turnout ever because fed-up ANC voters decided not to vote, it was never a matter that they decided to vote for other parties. Yes the DA is very technical in their strategies and are really on to something but I fear they undermine the most important vote which is the township voters, that is where the numbers are situated

I really like Dr Cronje's analyses. However, I would like to ask him one question: How can the DA practically court the "one-third of the centrists in the ANC," as you put it? Is it by putting up black candidates? If so, then that contradicts what you said earlier, and that is, that "this one-third of the moderates among the ANC voters don't care about the colour of the skin of the person standing for elections?" Unless you have some other ideas in mind in terms of policy issues, etc, and not merely the race issue. I would be delighted if you could respond to my question. Thank you

With the fragmented outlook of political parties forming a government as in the outlook of frans cronje, it looks like it's going to be a 'Loop Kak' situation well into the future, will anything effectively be achieved in such a scenario.

Nobody wants to compromise, The DA wants their cake and eat it. They will have to allow concessions to let other people into this alliance - even if they concede on some level. You cannot expect everybody to give up on power and not to expect to also give in themselves.
