Hate him. Love him. Despise him. Whatever. The fact remains that Robert Mugabe will go down in history as the mot important political player to emerge out of the African landscape. Greatness attracts controversy. How is it possible that this man, with all the commotion about him still remains the legitimate President of Zimbabwe, is now the African Union chairman and also the chairman for SADC. Phenomenal.

A tough act to follow for a 91 year old. Vintage Mugabe would always hold his audience spellbound as he did in this 90 minutes speech. He is out of power now and unfortunately did not leave the centerstage when the ovation was loudest. For that and other reasons, he earned his detractors amidst many long-standing admirers. When it is all said and done, President Mugabe will take his rightful place among the pantheon of orators, statesmen and storytellers.

He couldn't be born in two different eras. I wish he was born in the now,in our time, what a wise man and a strong African leader, who endured all the nonsense, dislike, sanctions because he was lied to, only to be the best for his country.House Lancaster and America should have kept their promises. Our youth today don't understand the suffering and the fight our African leaders had to endure to keep our identity. Who will continue fighting for us? Or speak for us on an international level unwavering like Mugabe did?

We as Africans betrayed People as Mugabe and his Predecessors who sacrificed their lives to Liberate their own People were all betrayed later by the same Victims they came to Freed from the Satans... some were Overthrown, some were Assassinated and Some were left alone like himself Mugabe ( Nkrumah of my country Ghana 🇬🇭 the White man’s Victims were pushed and tricked to Overthrown Nkrumah after several attempts of Assassination Failures,Patrice Lumumba was killed by Congolese people lol 😂 see them today suffering in endless War for more than 2 decades, they would do all to get another Lumumba but it has been too late,Mali lol Modibo Keita Who kicked out Satans of France was later imprisoned and Poisoned,Sekou Tourey of Guinea 🇬🇳 the same,Sankara was Assassinated by his own best Friend,we recently had the great MAGUFULI who was poisoned by TANZANIANS LOL) So African is Mentally 😷 SICK!!!

He is more eloquent off the cuff, narrating our African history and journey. He could have ruled one or two terms and stepped down. And as emeritus mentored not only Zimbabwean future leaders but Africa as whole, and let his legacy live on. What tarnished his legacy and brought him down was 'our little troubles' Bob Marley foresaw and warned about in Song Zimbabwe in 1980

All the wealth of Gabon belongs to France, that is why when real bullets are fired at them, France and its president remain mute. This is mainly the reason why Africans must ask themselves the question of the real presence of multinationals and their armed bases on African soils. I am in favor of an African unity which is no longer merely a view of the mind but a reality. But how do we get there, when Westerners put in place and support systems (ourselves) so that we do not get there?

Too little, too late, Bob. Nearly 35 years of squandered opportunities to make Zimbabwe an African economic powerhouse. It's regrettable that so many people had to leave Zimbabwe to eke out an existence abroad, separated from their loved ones and everything familiar. It's a terrible legacy to leave behind. History will not judge him kindly.
