Kobie Finally a Saab story . A well made over engineered car made to aircraft specifications made to last. Next week is the Rod Nationals in Pamona I will be attending with my wife son and daughter-in-law hopefully there will be some interesting cars to photograph

Ya, I don't have the SAAB anymore, but I miss it. Such a different type of car. Way over engineered lol

Have you tried running the colder plugs as recommended by the Saab community BCPR7ES?
@KobieMC
@KobieMC 6 ай бұрын
Nope as most of that stemmed from people's tuners recommending that due to the tune. I never had any plug issues running the OEM plugs.

Do you have to disconnect the battery before removing spark plugs?

what did you do with that pliers after you installed each new spark plug ?
@KobieMC
@KobieMC Жыл бұрын
The rubber grommet inside the spark plug adapter kept coming off and was stuck to the top of the spark plug. So I was pulling it back out and putting it back into the adapter for the socket.

@KobieMC
@KobieMC 7 ай бұрын
I got mine from rockauto. I Believe they now stock Hitachi DICs which are supposedly the same as the NGK and SEM.

no one thinking to move the DIC.case higher 10 to15mm.high from engine cover by teflon insulator.othe DIC.case not touch the engine cover The DIC.unit not so hot...

Then it wouldn't sit properly sealed over the spark plugs.

Yeah that coil-on-plug/Cam-valley-assembly is ridiculous. I saw the replacement cost for it on ebay....ouch! Pitty you didn't find some Audi R8 coils (From the V10) and had a plate machined up, and then routed the wires from the main plug (Thats under that intake pipe) to each individual plug coil. Saab is a BS car. Its not over engineered, its about making parts that cannot easily be replaced. Replacing a knock sensor with a spark plug is just being silly, and its why the Audi/Lamborghini/Porsche V10 has several knock sensors. Its like most car makers make individual coils, but competitors are allowed by law to make and sell the same item for less. The Europeans just create an entire assembly thats too specific per model for a competitor to bother making. Yes I did see the knock offs. Should have bought a Toyota or Honda. I have tried a variety of plugs in a few Toyotas. One toyota I own seems to foul its plugs early, and running expensive Platinum and iridium plugs was a waste of money and time, as they foul up and the engine drastically looses power. I went back to copper spark plugs in two of my cars, BUT they're twin tipped. In the conventional plug design, the spark is hidden behind the electrode. In the twin tipped, the core comes out and is exposed, and both electrodes turn in to the electrode and the spark is always exposed to the top of the piston. I get at least 10 to 15 more horse power from these plugs, and better throttle response. Back in the V8 days with two valves per cylinder, the spark plugs were never right on top of the piston, but they went in on angle on one side. Racers used to "Index " the plugs by adding washers so as the spark was exposed to the top of the piston for better combustion and flame front. So the twin tip plugs are kind of like "Indexing" and having the spark exposed to the top of the piston producing the best and least impeded (by an electrode) flame front. Spark plugs need about 25nm of torque, and that looked like 15nm of torque. You gotta get a small torque wrench that goes up to 30nm for plugs. The big ones with half inch drive aren't accurate up to 40nm of torque. I have a 1/4 inch drive torque wrench for changing plugs and lighter duty tightening that still needs to be relatively accurate (Its just a car). Regards Kobie!

They don't fit any other car.. That's not true, it's a bullshit. They fit any other car with same diameter and height. But yeah, i wouldn't put them on any car, even on my saab. I suffered enough with same NGK, and replaced them with Denso IQ20TT.

They are not designed to fit the requirements of any other car or there'd be more vehicles listed as compatible on the NGK site. I never had any issues with OEM NGK plugs.

@@KobieMC anyway, they will still work. It's just a spark. I will agree with you about specifications.
