Although thats not a common failure, but the diagnosis is the same as the symptoms points toward a filed CIM.
Check powers and grounds, comm wires (in this case the LS-CAN) but u could have a failure in the HS-CAN as well in the same manner and then u have to check the HS-CAN wiring instead.
Some people will argue that i should've checked fuses from beginning, well if you have more than a 100 fuse in the car, where to start from, and then what i should do with those fuses that are not powered up ..... etc
This is the industry standard, and the SAAB flow, and this is how i would do it every time.
