@Eldomibori
@Eldomibori 6 жыл бұрын
Ginge1990 Lol German? Quality? That’s funny. Most German cars such as Benz, VW, and BMW have parts that constantly fail and cost an arm and leg to fix. A German car won’t outlast it, and that’s a fact. Parts on this Jeep are simple, not overly engineered and affordable and can last a long time. It was built to last. And it does it’s job as I personally own one. It’s a 20 year old car and it runs amazing for its age. A lot of the 20 year old cars that you see in junk yards or on a tow truck are German.

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited and the 5.2l 318 is an amazing engine. Had mine for about two years and nothing ever went wrong with it. Gas consumption really isn't bad. 14 mpg average but i straight piped mine with a chip and its nasty. Loud, fast, and bullet proof engine. Never got stuck and 4x4 a lot. Towing is good for my quads. I'm honestly in love with this Jeep and never want to get rid of it. Props to Jeep for the SUV of the 1900's!!

I’ve had one of these for just over 4 years. Overall a good car. Very powerful and great in the snow. Very good interior quality. My only complaints are the bad gas mileage ( but kinda expected with a 5.9 V8 ) and that the feel of the steering is not the greatest.

I just sold my 5.2 v8 limited to get one of these bad boys. Talk to this guy who pulled up in it and said he would sell it because of the reason he bought it was no longer needed. 100000 miles and everything is perfect condition. Leather, carpet, sunroof, it is in perfect condition. My dream zj and the ac still works great. Will post a video for you guys soon.

I have a 1998 GC Limited and get 22mpg highway on cold days. 26mpg or better on hot days. Keep it well maintained. Don't go cheap on your fluids. $120 on diff oil every 30K miles is a good investment. Get some good spark plugs and check the gaps on each one (.038) Make sure your electrical system is in good shape (wires, dist. cap, coil, alt). Clean the ground from the battery to the fender and spray some anti corrosive stuff on it. K&N FIPK wakes up the 5.2. Have fun, good luck

Definitely, especially for the amount of miles it has. My uncle found a 5.9 with about 30,000 miles! Unfortunately, that means it was not driven very often. It was left parked outside on by a coastal house for years before he bought it. It has differential issues, shocks issues, and power steering pump problems. Good thing he has two others though. He's gonna sell one of them to me soon, it's got 80,000 miles on it. I wish more people took care of these rare cars. Less than 15,000 produced.

This class of Jeep is my dream... I have "only" the Jeep XJ 4.0 with AW-4 and NP242 and I love that sturdy and unbeatable car. But having a V8 ZJ for long journeys would be something. Alas, prices of ZJs in good state of preservation are soaring higher and higher here in Europe (and so do the prices of XJs, too). Nice vid!

these are so cool! as a young(ish) kid, I always loved picking out the badging that made a car the hot model. 5.0 or a cobra on a mustang, "turbo"or "v6"on a k-car, Supercharged on all sorts of GM 3.8s, etc. One of the coolest to me was the 5.9 cherokees. Sort of a precursor to the AMG MLs and Range Rover Sports.

Just picked up a 98 ZJ this past December with 150k on it, 4.0L Straight 6 4x4 and with the selec-trac transfer case of course...mine is a Laredo, however it was special ordered and actually is an Special Edition behind Laredo badges. Its in excellent condition, if you didn't know any better it looks like someone just drove it off the assembly line, its clean inside and out. The 5.9L V8 Limited was only offered in 1998, just a 1 year run, so they're pretty hard to find, and if you do find them they're usually trashed, but if you do find one that is in great condition grab it, they're great vehicles and that 5.9L V8 was the quickest SUV of its time...and its still pretty dang quick.

This 5.9 had 16MPG average according to the video. I guess it's really up to the driver and conditions too. A 5l+ gas V8 in an SUV isn't exactly the most fuel efficient thing out there but I reckon you can drive it relatively cheaply (especially in the US where the gas prices are half of that of the rest of the world almost)

If you're scared about the fuel consuption. Get something else!!!! The V8 is thirsty. This Jeep requires PREMIUM fuel only. Expect about 14/15 mpg in the summer and 10/13 in the winter time if you live in a cold climate. If you ever get 19 mpg on the freeway consider yourself lucky, it happens but thats if the wind is pushing you and you are keeping it under 70 mph.

@britishcarfan When he says the steering is "nice and tight" it usually means that there's a lot of power assisted feedback to the driver. So in other words, if you were steering the car, the wheel wouldn't just turn as easily, but in return, you usually get better feedback from the suspension.

@tjstreeter No the blown engine Jeep has the 4.0 L Inline 6 cylinder and is a 2000 so it's the next generation body style. Just search it in his channel and you'll find several videos on it. It's in pretty rough shape, this one is nice and was obviously taken care of. Plus this isn't his family's dealership he just visits it often to make videos.

Also 65 (typical interstate speed limit) is straight up and 20 (school zone) is straight left, making driving easier since you don't have to read the numbers.

I have a slate one as well, bought it new in '98. Just about to roll over 300k miles, never getting rid of it, going strong.

I had a white 5.9 just like that. God I miss that Jeep. I'd still have it if the Quadrajunk drivetrain of failure could've handled the 360. :(

I like the Wagoneer better. It has an overhead console style that I like, without the annoying buzzer. And now for something completely unrelated, I saw a 1984-1990 Plymouth Voyage today with leather seats.

5:09 meanwhile..... the buick 3.8 v6 was making VERY close to the same power..... even back in 1998 . people say buicks are slow.... but they knew what they were doing when it came to cylinder heads and intakes
