I miss my 87 lincoln. I named her big Bertha. All white with dark blue leather interior and matching blue half leather top. Mine had the turbine wheels and I put bigger white walls on it. I got mine from a guy that owned a dealership and just couldn't drive it anymore. Used to love the power antenna feature and the ride was like no other.

I really enjoyed this video. That is a base town Car from 1998. Three dead giveaways: the instrumentation , the climate control , and the seats . The gas mileage was not bad on these Town Cars from this era. This was one of my favorite Town Car designs. That car has held up well. That car also had great interior room. Thanks Kyle

My grandmother drove her 1999 Town Car until she was 95 years old, and now I own it. It gets an "Antique Auto" license plate next year! I like the 1990-1997 generation best but for better or worse the 1998-2013 like mine are a bit more of a driver's car (slightly shorter, firmer suspension, heavier steering, a bit more HP, etc.) I do prefer the cloth seats since the suede like material Ford used was very soft and very durable. The 4.6L V-8 in the later Town Cars is a very reliable and durable engine.
@Hearsesrock4278 жыл бұрын
I love the late box body Town Cars.... the rear fascia with those little square lights on the side and horizontal strakes is BEAUTIFUL! It was a look at how the '90-'94s would look from the rear too. This sexy '88 reminds me of a white '89 Signature Series I saw at a local car show in the summer, right down the awesome velour interior and vent windows. The guy bought it new in '89, drove it down to Florida before the snow hit, and then drove it back after the snow melted. The interior on his was in a little better shape (didn't have any wear on the horn pad, glovebox wasn't busted up like most of them get, etc.) but it was close enough. This one just needs the vinyl top deleted, a new main drive belt, and some other maintenance then you're set. These really do make great hot rods, if you want to go that route. Big brake kits, polyurethane suspension bushings, sway bars, coil springs, shocks, etc. You're making it hard to decide which generation of Town Car to pick up as a project. I love these '88-'89s AND the '90-'94s!

Normally I don't see the appeal to these "old man cars", but this one is oddly appealing to me. I feel like it doesn't try to be cool; it just is. Plus, my friends would love it, and the styling nowadays says "I dont take myself too seriously". Just my two cents.

@throughlou you have a good point there, but the thing is that, around the 80's is when one of the first major oil crises hit, and small, effiecient japanese cars were brought to the US market, and american car companies responded by dramatically lowering compression and power output in order to keep up. look back to the 60's and 70's, most 305 V8's and sometimes smaller made upwards of 250-300HP, the 80's is when things went downhill.
