In this video I bring you all a 1948 Ford Super Deluxe 8 Convertible. It had been sitting about 4 months without being started. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

I grew up with these cars. What this cars needs is a good run on the highway. 50 miles at 60 mph and you would never recognize the way it runs. Carb would clean out . carbon would clean out etc. Beautiful car.

bmar577 back then you were lucky if your car could last 100,000 miles. That’s why old cars’ odometers only go up to 99,999.

It's amazing to see a video like this, a car that is 65 years old, seeing the specs, 100 hp, etc, and then clicking on another video on the side of a 2013 car, especially a sport/muscle car like the Mustang GT500, Corvette, Camaro, all having easy 550+ hp and seeing how far cars have come.

GOD bless kyle. thank you for this trip down memory lane. eventhough i am but 37yo, this still brings me back a few years to the restoration/cold start/resurrection i did on my plymouth. again thank you. my plymouth, albeit a 49, similar to the 49 coronet you filmed, was FUN. mine was a flathead 6 cylinder. purred like a kitten

The first "hardtop coupe" wasn't until '51 with the Victoria. The Deluxe series came out in '41 and with few changes was resumed 46-8. Major redesign for 49-51, 52-54.

What a beaut! There's nothing that sounds sweeter than an original Ford flat head V8; Unfortunately too many have now been replaced with small block Chevy engines ! ! ! Brings back many memories of my Uncle's '48 convertible growing up in the 50's.

In the 1980s, the movie "Back to the Future 2" was set in 2010. They had flying skateboards, shoes that tie themselves, and flying cars. It's 2011, and we have Bendaroos, Pillow Pets, and Snuggies.

Besides the overall beauty of the car, I LOVE the color! I had a '40 Ford Tudor which was almost the same color. My dad and I bought it from an Air Force Captain in San Antonio who was in the business of restoring cars and decided to sell it partially restored to us in 1967. Cars don't really rust much in San Antonio so it was a good place to start. My only regret was that he had put a 265 Chevy V8 in in and changed to a 12V system. It ran super with a tranny converter. Long story but I sold it.

@Chwigga89 Its actually not very heavy. It weighs about 3300 pounds, which is about the same as a small 4 door saloon like bmw 3 series. This is a very big car, but its mostly "empty" underneath the outer body shell, while new cars are completely loaded inside, very compact.

Non-Collectors like me see this car in a movie (mad mad mad mad world) and get the wrong impression but I really like the car anyway now that I see this one. The one Phil Silvers drove in the movie had a big throaty V-8 sound and he's spinning the back wheels in half the scenes with it. I thought wow, that thing must have 300 HP!. Um, nope.
