Making Charms for Junk Journals from Recycled Plastic Loyalty Cards + Freebie

You are amazing. I have been doing art for 30 years and I am so inspired by you and your ideas. I've always used my expired/old cards for texture tools on a gelli plate or abstract paintings. But these are really wonderful works of art that cost money if you buy them made out of metal. Loved the way you use different types of products to achieve unique looks. Your art studio must be as full as mine! LOL I do not do junk journals, but subscribed because you have great ideas that maximize art supplies. Thanks for experimenting and finding the recipe for these charms.

My studio is small and filled to the brim with supplies I've been collecting for years ("hoarding" would be more appropriate word😆) I didn't do a new painting in over 10 years and yet I keep buying paint and canvases all the time. Since I discovered junk journals, my motivation has come back big time. I see it a as mixed media art that allows me to do many different techniques all in one, that's why I love it so much. You can probably glue the images using acrylic gel medium. It's water based, so no smell, but dries hard like acrylic glue. It also serves to protect the surface of the image or the rust metal painted on the back.

Incredible video. After sanding items down I’d use a little bit of alcohol to remove sanding dust..I do this even when I work with wood to prep before I do any type of painting, varnish or acrylic

These were all lovely. And, a lot of fun. And, you made it look so easy. I wondered if you could, maybe, use fingernail clippers for rounding the corners. And, try an emery board for filing instead of the block sander. It's a bit smaller and easier to handle.

I have cut up old cd's by heating with a heat gun before cutting with scissors. Heating the plastic cards might help as well.

I agree, although glue and paint might start to melt. It would work if plastic is heated and cut before painting or glueing 😊❤️
