I know it's really hard. I give them space but still they'll be on social media for hours and hours but lying that they're doing their homework. I don't know what to do. I can't see my kids being on social media for such a long time. I told my kids I have rules they have to follow. They can be on social media for only for limited time

For the people in the comments, there's a difference with giving your teen some space, and completely ignoring them for months and years at a time. "Giving space" to me as a parent, is like observing and monitoring, instead of micro-managing every decision a teen makes.

Yes the parents should chill out a bit however potentially chilling out can give teenagers the green light saying your free I'm giving u time. I'm 15 and although I hate being that typical teenager I also understand my parent pov. So both parents and children need to chill out.

100 💯 this ignorant sheik is give horrific advice. My daughter is acting like a whore. Instead of helping her be a good Muslim and be decent and educate why decency is the halal and good way, I’ll listen to this moron and “chill out” so my daughter can earn her way to hell fire. Please don’t listen to every “expert” on the topic internet. Get advice from multiple scholars and look at the teachings of Quran and Hadith

Unless you have children you don't understand. My son ive been nothing but patient with and loving and he is showing to everyone that no one matters except himself. This kind of advice he just gave sounds like someone who doesn't know anything about children. I've raised other people's children along with my own. The baby of the family is the last to leave the nest. He's 15 and lies and steals. I don't know what to do because his behavior is getting out of control. I'm 33. I've taken child development courses and have a degree in psychology. This generation doesn't respect adults. The school system has failed our youth. Parents have failed. The economy is in dire straits. Parents' power to punish has been taken away. I could go on. Yes maybe this advice could help some but the reason some of our teens are in such shit is because parents have taken a back seat to their children's wellfair.

@@vermillionsky426 Now the behavior is so nice, instead of beating me and my wife made her understand what is wrong and how to use internet, reminded her goal to be a doctor, and that we are helping you get there. The Instagram is not a good app to be in since the reels you see is a brainwashing agenda which will distract you from your goals. Tomorrow is her first day after this break, I know once back from school again the bad behavior and tantrums will begin, getting ready with punishments lol. Parenting is tough but necessary.

@@vermillionsky426Naa, his advise will lead the child strait to death. I have a lying and stealing son also. He has ZERO reason to do so. He’s 18 and has few months before he graduates because he got held back a grade. He wants to drop out. Just stupid. I have 4 children but only 1 that gives me a hard time and he has no reason to act like he acts. This is not good advice. I agree with you. This is someone that doesn’t have children nor know how to deal with them. Especially when he makes the statement “back up” “give them space”. Not a good idea with an iPhone or iPad in front of them.

There definitely needs to be a balance because my parents backed off, chilled out to the max and I ended up doing my own thing, gangs, drugs, in and out of juvenile detention centers and finally at the age of 16 my dad kicked me out the house and I ended up in the streets....but I thank God for saving me❤️

I feel like the more I read, the more I’m convinced we are parenting the best we know how. 14 yo very rebellious, lies all the time, trouble in school since the first week, drugs etc. I try not to be the hammer but everything looks like a nail right now. I did sooo many things as a teen and no one was the wiser because they weren’t involved. No boubdaries, etc. Not saying it’s good to overreact either but has to be balanced. Keep open communication, engage with them many times a day.

The problem with today's youth is that they have instilled in them PRIDE. Most are ungrateful, disrespectful, selfish and act as if the world revolves around them. Society has ruined households with their agenda. 😔

"every decision we make is the best and only decision at the time with the information you have and the state of mind you were in" this is precisely we should guide the youth rather than dismiss them for their actions. Most parents and teachers are failing to guide their children.

Bro, taking drugs is not a normal teen rebellious behaviour. He is talking about teenagers who are in the transitional period and act like adults. Some parents are so control freak that they legit freak out. My parents did. I'm 26 now. Because of their control freak behaviour I've become distant to them. If they understood me a little, we could've been best friends.

When you chill out as a parent know your child is heading down a dark unknown path, I will give my children guidance. Let them know why it’s not safe and why they should reconsider. After countless conversations she chooses the wrong choice and end us with her out come. She asked for help and I will provide none. My help came when I was giving her wisdom and correction. She will now be humbled by reality in her own choices. Jesus said to train up a child In the way they should go and when the child wanders from the way, they know what way to go back home.

That's all fine and good, except when the rebellious teenager is being watched by a yoinger sibling. My rebellious teen is 17 and my son is 6 and he is very observant and my 17 year is doing things in front of him she was told NOT to. So, chilling out is not always the answer.

I mean if you have a close relationship with your child, keep them away from social media, teach them morals and values, give them space when needed, but parent when necessary, i mean they turn out just alright. You cant let teenagers go wild to much. Exposing them constantly to worldy crap will get a stable mind lost in confusion. Just my thoughts. 😅
