Do you think it would be better to put the Loctite inside the spindle thread rather than on the bolt when doing head and tail assemblies?
@westhobbiesrc8051
@westhobbiesrc8051 Жыл бұрын
You can do it either way, personally I have found on multiple different builds when in doing the Loctite on the threads of the shaft instead of the bolt sometimes what can happen if the shaft is at an angle or you’re flipping it around to get something done the other side you can have the Loctite run past the threads that you actually need and while yes you get a little bit on the threads that the bolt is going to bite down on majority of it ran past it. So I know 100% that the bolt has every thread coded and a Loctite is going to do its job. But you run the risk of it running out of the bowl if you add too much and that is why I let it sit for a couple seconds so it’s soaks 360° around every dread and not just a glob that gets pushed out.

I didn't see if the tail belt has the wording on the correct side up. I noticed the wording on the tail pulley installation step. Do you know if you ended up with the words correct after the twist or not? That would let me know if I use your twist method that I will have the words correct. Yes that is a bit too much OCD :)

Yes one and a half twist to the left is all you need on your belt for it to be the right direction as the rotor spins clockwise tail spins counterclockwise.

I think that Microlube is the one that SAB recommends but it seems to be rather expensive. I bought some gun grease instead as I saw on the forums given the stress and heat conditions of a heli, a gun would be similar so a gun lubricant would work well for helis. What do you think? I used to use Botolube everywhere and that honestly has worked well but I wanted to try other options.

Yes this is the micro lube that SAB recommends. It is expensive at $40 a tube but the best grease I have ever found! I have used bunch of different grease on models and micro lube is hands-down the best one. Well worth the money.

The manual on page 22 states to tighten the nuts first, then the front motor mount bolts. That's what I have done on my Goblins in the past, although I have never built a 700. But the manual states that. I will be building a RAW next year so I had downloaded the manual.

Yes they tell you to tighten the nuts first so that way it sucks the back of the plate up flush and does not rub the pool. I always just snug the two front screws up not tight but just enough to hold it in position while I get in there after tensioning the belt to fully tighten those nuts down because they can be a little bit of a pain.

Thank you for watching! I’m glad the videos helped you on your 420. It is such a incredible model I absolutely love mine! You definitely need a 700 lol the KSE is such a nice model just like all SAB models. Top quality!

On my 700 Raw my boom keeps coming loose, I’ve tightened the two clamps down pretty good and don’t want to strip it but don’t understand why it keeps getting loose. This is not happening on my 580N Raw just the 700 Raw

Change the lock nuts on the bolts in the boom mounts. Some times they go bad/don’t hold. I would change those out first and see if it stays tight.

For the tail slider, do you think it would be better to place the retaining compound on the thread instead of running the bolt with compound running through the bearings? Specially since you are wiggling and you ran out of compound which means it's all on the inside probably seeping into the bearings.
@westhobbiesrc8051
@westhobbiesrc8051 Жыл бұрын
As long as you don’t get any in the bearings it really don’t matter how you do it. Again if you put it on the threads of the shaft it can run down past what you actually need and while yes you get a little bit on the threads the bolt that self is not coded. I would much rather it be on the boat let it soak run it down and if any pushes out wipe it up real quick with some rubbing alcohol and a paper towel and I have never had any gritty Bearing

Jeff, firstly... hold the Motor upside down and then turn the Heli upside down and slide that in there. Brilliant!!! Secondly and very important, when getting the Tail Shaft Casing just remember that it is Nothing like a Sausage Casing... Another Incredible Build my friend, 10+ out of 10! Another Incredible Build Jeff!

Thank you Larry! Flipping the model and motor upside down was the easiest way I found to get it all and I doubt fighting those washers or sliding them in afterwards and fighting the servos. Simple and easy lol the tail casing is definitely a little bit tricky to put together but works incredible!
