So bizarre how Graf/Sabatini barely say a word to each other. In today's doubles of fist bumping and chest bumping and low-fives and constant consultation

senorgato70 Both are/ were pretty shy, reserved people, so I think that contributed to it. They were also rivals in singles play (even if Graf almost always won, Gaby was one of the few that could give her a decent match). To be honest I'm surprised their partnership survived until as late as 1989. They became much friendlier later in their careers, and seemed to have a lot of respect for each other.

@@FlabbyTitmuss true. Their relationship became much less intense after steffi was finally able to solve sabatini’s game and started winning after the 7-8 consecutive loss from 90-92. By the mid-end of 93, Steffi was comfortably back at #1, gabby was clearly on the decline and wasnt being competitive to steffi and slam titles… Mary joe & jo durie werent speaking much either. They just went on about their business Btw who was the commentator here? I dont speak spanish, but his voice sounds so familiar and he obviously did lots of steffi’s old matches

@@FlabbyTitmussit was very much an artificial partnership, put together by promoters. Steffi for example had played with a number of partners previously, including Jo Durie, Anne Smith, Joanne Russell and Helena Sukova
