The US must be the only country where they separate marines from soldiers. It's like saying: "I'm not human, I'm Swedish."

US Marines are a subsection of the Department of the Navy. They have a different identity and mission stature from the Army.

@@JammersMetalMischief yes, I know and I don't really like it. It's like they think they are some kind of "übermensch".

ubermensch may be putting it a little far, but they are tasked with more difficult missions and they are trained more completely. They're a Quick Reaction Force whereas the Army pretty much takes it's time getting somewhere. Every Marine is an infantryman fighter first, then a specialist after. In the Army, it's the opposite. I was a Satellite Operator, and I could fight if i *had* to-and definitely not as well as even an Army Infantryman. . @@SwedishWarGoat.

@@PopAt50 you know what I mean. It's like they are too good to be called soldiers and they take offense if somebody does. What is the saying, get off your high horse?

Oh no the marines promote themselves as hell hounds who will fight tooth and nail and win its almost like you want soilders to fight with the belief that they're strong and are going to win because you're sending them into the hell that is the battlefield and they need something to rely on some assurance that they'll get to March home at the end of their fight
