One of the Greatest naval battles in the world " Midway "
@thatonejoey18472 жыл бұрын
I won't let anyone slander my boy jutland, the greatest battleship battle in history HMS Warspite and USS Enterprise are equally cool and it's still a crime that both got scrapped after the war
@frankwoods41322 жыл бұрын
@@thatonejoey1847 agreed and the USS Enterprise was the most decorated amarican aircraft carrier in the war with 20 battle stars if I remember right but it had a sad end it could have been a great museum like USS Missouri and probably get a lot of visitors but rest in peace those 400 thousand japanese sailors and pilots all together in that battle and rest in peace all those amarican pilots during the war and the battle of Midway
@thatonejoey18472 жыл бұрын
@@frankwoods4132 yeah and Warspite herself had 15 battle honours, the most of of any royal navy vessel, participating in jutland, being a massive thorn for the Italian navy, being one of the ships shore bombarding Normandy during D day the fact that she wore out her cannons from overuse speaks volumes about her long carrer. This ships deserved better, but like all countries, happy to wage war and equally happy about letting veterans down time after time
@frankwoods41322 жыл бұрын

The movie was tragically hot trash. Hollywood can't resist over dramatizing things into ridiculousness. At no point did a dive bomber skim so close to the deck that their bomb cradle scrape it. That's ridiculous and it adds nothing. When Hollywood does these ridiculous transformations it's their way of saying that the audience is too dumb to think the original story is interesting. When in reality it was absolutely incredible. In many ways the pincer attack of the dive bombers was one of the most strange turns of luck in the history of naval warfare, both groups messed up their navigation, then re adjusted and by some miracle ended up on both flanks of the carrier force at the exact same time (to within a few minutes)

I appreciated that movie, for showing the Navy and Air Force War Machine of WW2. Classic. It take more than troops to win a war. All action scenes are great to watch. We see the Cameraman in the intro, it is a true event and documentary of Midway 1942. The original Miday movie of 1976, inspired Star Wars 1977 - 1985. I often thinked about Star Wars battles while I was watching that movie, how it is the real version of it and greater, because it is true History, the true technology. It reminded me Battleship Electronic Board Games of the 1980/1990's. It is a great movie.

Those were kids in those crappy old planes...what we would call kids today anyway... In truth they were men. displaying more competence and bravery than anyone has a right to ask of another human. Screaming down at an 80 degree angle into the face of intense flak...for a few brief minutes it was as if the fate of the free world depended on the courage and skill of these few men Not old enough to buy a beer but old enough to plant a 500 pound bomb on the flight deck of an enemy carrier. She asked me if i do it every day. I wonder if there were any Navy pilots that hit more than one flattop... The big E was in a lot of fights.

Well done! The battle that not only changed the course of the war in the Pacific, but the entire war. It was also the battle that saved Russia's ass. If the we lose our carriers, Hawai'i and Australia would have been isolated and the remains of the U.S. fleet would have had to withdrawl to the West Coast. U.S. sub bases would have been far from their hunting grounds, the result being the IJN would have had plenty of oil for sustained operations. The Royal Navy, already stretched thin, would have had to pull out of the Indian Ocean completely, leaving the supply route to aid the Soviets thru the Persian Gulf cut off. Needing to protect the West Coast, the U.S. Navy would have pulled ships from the Atlantic, making the Murmansk convoy protections even thinner. Stalingrad may have well fallen without sustained U.S. and U.K. aid and there's no guarantee that Field Marshal Montgomery would have been successful at El-Alamein as the British pull ships out of the Med to protect Atlantic convoys.

The one thing I hate about midway is that both sides couldn't use their full force. Japan was at 66% strength. They were expecting to fight 2 maybe 3 carriers so they thought they'd be fine with only 4 of the 6 carriers of the legendary Kito Butai.(they were wrong) The US gets a pass because the were hoping to fight all 6 carriers and the only brought 3.

USS Nautilus snuck through and attempted to torpedo I believe Akagi, however it missed and was spotted. The destroyer Arashi was ordered to pin it down, which ended up being the sole reason the Americans found the fleet and sunk the 3 carriers in one day. This was because they were initially given the wrong coordinates. Nautilus ended up surviving so it was an inconsequential and costly decision to pin it dowm

You need to know that the Japanse planes took to the sky while the battle of midway. They had some attackers, bombers and much Torpedobombers which were launchet from AC's "Kaga", "Shokaku", "Akagi", "Zuikaku" and much more AC's. And in this Viedeo olsaw to make it historical accurate you addet those Times. But you didn't add japanse attacks what is very bad. It looks like really the japanse navy is so trash that it cant launch any aircraftfrom a AC and the anti-air olsaw never hit the amerikan planes. It is a real insult for the japanse people and Historycars. Both sides in real life at this time lost VERY much naval power but on the end the amerikans wins. And that doesn't means that now the amerikans are 100 times better because they deafedet the imperial japanese navy. But you should know why the Imperial Japanse navy lose, because it is from my side a much smaller country whit mutch less Fabriks, steal and manpower to build mutch AC's (because they where the biggest naval advetige at this time.) than amerikans. The amerikans olsaw had more AC's and Battleships than the Imperial Japanese navy at the battle of midway. Thanks for understanding...

Only thing I cant stand about this movie is they tried to do way too much. Causing them to condense events and basically brush over the attack on the Yorktown. They don't include the CAP of the Kito Butai being the true defense of the fleet and over exaggerate the AA fire and number of ships present.( there was only 4 carriers, 4 cruisers, 8-12 destroyers)
