Sadly the resistamce did blow up a lot of bridges and rail roads the allies could have used after D-Day but Eisenhower thought it was a risk worth taking to make a beachhead for defence of the landings.

Besides the lesson of WWII is that the more powerful a tyrant is, the more every other nation on Earth feels threatened until eventually a "justice" coalition forms... The funny thing is that I have a sneaking suspicion NATO is the very reason NATO's members aren't taking the threat of China seriously... They feel safe in their alliance, impenetrable with two whole continents of military might, forgetting that one of them neutered its militaries after the cold war. NATO today is being carried by the economic and military sacrifice of the United States, it would fall apart without our logistical support alone, not to mention the massive monetary investment and high equipment/manpower contribution. Trump may be a hard-ass asshole, but he's absolutely right that every other beneficiary of NATO needs to take being a member seriously. Otherwise what happens when the US is using all its might to fight China and Russia invades Europe? Hell. That's what. It's no coincidence that former Eastern Bloc members of NATO are the most active. They know the value of NATO. Poland, Romania, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania all know what's at stake. They rose from that worse state to where they are now.

I love this video and was wondering if they have this on DVD? I’m 21 and currently in the military. Here is a good story, my great grandfather was a tail gunner bombing the coastline of Normandy the morning of the invasion. He and his group aimed closer to the beach since they heard about the navy doing that. About 50/50 hit the bunkers and the beach. Flak hits his tail section and blew out the entire gun, he woke up being dragged behind the plane since he had a harness attached to the plane kept him alive. They were told to bomb closer to the beach since they got word from the French Resistance that some of the allied bombs and cannons killed a lot a civilians and some resistance allies. But even so you can’t really control a bombs direction or cannon back then since that day wind played a huge factor too.

This is entirely speculation, but the entire Normandy invasion had American, British, Canadian and I think some more countries, but you'd think they would have some sort of rally point after that, so I think the reason that is was because they had to liberate France from Hitler's grasp. Plus Americans and British had liberated France (idk about Canada) together iirc

My family and I went to Normandy France in 2019. I was in tears when I saw all of the American Flags flying all over Normandy as this was the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion. The French people living there HAVE NOT forgot about this day and I am very grateful as an American to see that what our brave men and women did there so long ago will NOT BE FORGOTTEN!
