@UCBIjToM3zs4MGeK8SWxbFQQ it was not something we really liked, cos they treated us like animals. this is why we were only under them on paper, but they never conquered us in our hearts. also eugen schauman shot governor-general bobrikov when russia ruled over us. that man personified oppression and so he was shot dead. schauman was a true patriot.
@KossolaxtheForesworn
@KossolaxtheForesworn 3 жыл бұрын
@IACAFAIKI because we werent swedish we were finnish and anyone who says we were even slightly swedish can get stuffed. in the 1596 we did rebel during an excessively bad period of oppression. it could have been also successful and gain us independence from oppression already back then, but the swedish speaking fucks in our ranks turned against us and joined the swedish forces, there was also a fleet of other traitors in the whole deal. leader of the rebellion Jaakko Ilkka's limbs were broken with a club, his arms and legs were cut off and finally his head, and his body was placed on a wheel on top of a pole as a reminder to others not to resist the swedish oppressors. the swedish even went to the point to ban our language from being spoken, the reason why anyone who thought better of them selves learned to speak swedish and especially everyone who was even slightly wealthier spoke swedish even after we gained independence from russia. they are all traitors. they should be rounded up and exterminated.

***** He was very successful. He conquered most of Germany, turned the tide in the 30 years war, introduced modern warfare, conquered/liberasted hundreds of cities in Germany, conquered Riga and Livland, Kexholm and Ingria and defeated the undefeated Tilly for example. He was very beloved by the german population and he did not die/lose because of a tactical mistake or a betrayal.

For an alternative version of history, check out the book 1632 by Eric Flint. I started reading the series and learned quite a bit about the religious wars in northern Europe. The Lion of the North plays a central role in this book series.

"The Father of Modern War, Gustavus Adolphus almost certainly was not. But he may very well have been the Father of the Modern World. Because then, at that place, at the moment when the Saxons broke and the Inquisition bade fair to triumph over all of Europe, the king of Sweden stood his ground and proved, once again, that the truth of history is always concrete. At that instant, history pivoted on the soul of one man. His name was Gustavus Adolphus, and there were those among his followers who thought him the only monarch in Europe worthy of the name. They were right, and the man was about to prove it. For one of the few times in human history, royalty was not a lie. Two centuries later, long after the concrete set and the truth was obvious to all, a monument would be erected on that field. The passing years, through the bickering and the debates, had settled the meaning of Breitenfeld. The phrase on the monument simply read: freedom of belief for all the world. Whatever else he was or was not, Gustavus Adolphus will always be at Breitenfeld. He stands on that field for eternity, just as he did on that day. September 17, 1631. _Breitenfeld. Always Breitenfeld._ " --Eric Flint, _1632_

I stumbled on that book in a thrift store. I bought it for all of $2.00. 4 years of high school had me convinced that America and all of Western Civilization was morally bankrupt. A worn-out $2.00 *SCIENCE/HISTORICAL FICTION* paperback completely undid 4 years of demoralization. 1632 is a hidden gem.

@@willrogers3793 Moral bankrupt? Nah. Flawed and messed up? Sure, Western Civilization is made up of human beings, and no one is as flawed and messed up as human beings. The reason 1632 restored your faith is just because it showed those human beings realizing they're flawed and messed up and making the effort to be better.
