Konstantin Rokossovsky, possibly the most underrated Soviet general in WW2. Survivor of the Great Purge which ended up with him having iron false teeth for the rest of his life, one of the few Soviet commanders to have any kind of success during Operation Barbarossa, and one of a handful of people to openly tell Stalin he was wrong about something (and not get shot over it), and victor in countless battles all the while being constantly overshadowed by Zhukov because of his Polish ancestry. The German Tank Museum approves this message. :D Seriously though, a good production regarding the historical content. The storytelling managed to avoid the old myths and to show the modern research instead, and that is what has to be seen and heard on KZbin. Especially 3:55 is a very good point - the salient did not exist in a vacuum, but in a larger strategic context. Important were also the facts that Zitadelle was only a stop-gap to give the Wehrmacht time to breathe and rebuild (it was nowhere near the dimensions of Blau and Barbarossa) and the fact that the Red Army of 1943 was a completely different beast than 1941. The only addition that should be made: The British intelligence was not really crucial for the Soviets to realize that the Germans were about to attack the Salient. First of all it was practically a refelx for German general staffs to pincer attack wherever possible, so the place was pretty much predictable. Secondly the Red Army intelligence reconnoitered the German build-up itself, because they actually couldn't miss it. Additionally the long decision making process of the Germans made the intelligence's job much easier. Best wishes from Germany!

I belive that Prochorovka was under von Manstein command, not Models, and that battle took place before russian counterattacks in the north

Alright I’ve just gotta say this only five videos into the channel. This shit is how the history of wars and warfare should be taught in schools. I had history classes every year of my time in the US education system in all but my last two years of high school and for all that, I’ve learned more today than in all my school years combined. Nobody has presented war history to me in a way that’s engaging and palatable until I came across these videos today. Thank you!!!!

Allthough I really like this video there's quite a lot of historical inacuracies in it... Worst one is that General Model was neither a field marshall at this time (he became in january 1944) nor did he command german army group center (that was field marshall von Kluges job) but 9th army AND 2nd panzerarmy at the same time. Also the whole "battle of prochorovka"-story just seems to follow the sowjet post war propaganda although - as recent studies by e.g. Dr. R. Töppel or Dr. K.H. Frieser showed - it was a total disaster for Rotmistrovs two tank corps who nearly got anihilated with losses of about 300 tanks while the SS-Panzer-Corps in total didn't even lose 20 tanks on 12th July 1943.

I thought the lyric was "fascists rest in hell!" I now it is not, but it should be.

@@ShantyIrishman that doesn't make sense, fascism still lives on sadly.

TecnicStudios Fascism is an idea, fascists are people, a lot of them died in 1943.

@@ShantyIrishman you might have heard of a little fascist named Francisco Franco, he ruled Spain from 1939 to his death in 1975.
