It's been an interesting ride through the northwestern tip of Africa. This turned out to be my last video from Morocco, as I had to cut the trip a bit short and go elsewhere. Great country though. I'll definitely be back someday to explore the (Western?) Sahara, I didn't even get a selfie with a camel yet. I'll probably be back in a few weeks from somewhere new. This border crossing from Fnidiq, Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in a way reminds me of USA border crossing from San Ysidro, Calif. (San Diego County) into Tijuana, Baja-Mexico which I would cross an average of every two weeks on Saturday weekends for more than 15 yrs straight to party with the Mexican Senoritas at "Adelitas", "Las Chavelas" bar/clubs. Even though there was only a 10-15 minute walk across the bordering two countries, I could almost "IMMEDIATELY" see the vast difference between the two sides of the bordering cities. Same as Ceuta has at least 50% Moroccan residents on the Spanish side, it was well know that at least 70% of the residents on the American side in San Ysidro were Mexican and other Hispanic people. It was always nice living in southern California while being educated and having a nice salaried career job which allowed me to drive to a different country where my money went further, and could return back to my parked car on the USA side within approximately 10 hours and drive back home in a little less than 2 hours early Sunday morning and sleep until 2 PM when I would wake up to exercise and do my weekly laundry to start my Monday work week..😊😊

But it was well worth the scenic drive with a stop at Carl's Jr restaurant for a snack before walking across to Revolution Blvd, and farther to the Red Zone to visit the world famous "Adelitas Bar", Las Chavelas, Chicago Club, Hong Kong Bar, Hawaiian Bar, and observe the HUNDREDS of beautiful Senoritas (Damas) all standing up against walls of different buildings while trying to catch a TRICK..🤣😂

You said Ceuta is as Spanish as Madrid or Barcelona, well Ceuta it is defintly way more spanish than Barcelona and can be more spanish than any other part of mainland Spain. People in Ceuta are very proud of Spain and very patriotic, also many of ceutans are from the spanish army. About the KKK statue.. well is a religious dress from semana santa (holly week) it can be the most cultural, traditional and important week in Spain, specially in Andalusia(southern Spain). It is also way older than the KKK so problably KKK copy that religious spanish dress from us. I will highly recomend you to cross the border from La línea (spanish city) to Gibraltal (UK). It is mind blowing too! La línea is one of the poorest western european cities ang Gibraltar is one of the richest places on earth! The only true historical heritage Castillian spain has is from the time it conquered the region, not before that. Castillian spain has no affiliation with the Visigoths who lived in the south of Iberia or in cueta and melilla, because the Castillians expelled the original inhabitants of these regions (the Andalusians) who actually descended from those original southern Visigoths and fled to north-Morocco. This is weird but I find that Americans don't travel anywhere near as much as Canadians. I think it's because Canadians are more open to other cultures and ways of life whereas Americans are more conservative and insular. Americans mainly travel only within the US. If Americans travel abroad it's usually only Mexico. I traveled to the Caribbean a few years back and I would see so many people with North American accents and they were all Canadian. Also in Peru the tourists are all European or Canadian and very few from the US. Cheers.
@Kaygee792 жыл бұрын
@@coupleofbeers31 as a Canadian who has grown up in Toronto I have been surrounded by friends of various cultures and it is very normal for me and I would assume for other Canadians to want to explore and learn more about other cultures. It was encouraged in school with various cultural days and builds more curiosity to learn more about a culture you may know less about. When you actually visit those places you understand them even more. Also I would say that when you're used to being surrounded by many different cultures there is also a feeling of comfort even when you travel to another culture, you don't feel strange or out of place because you've already seen everyone so it's all normal to many of us. That is my perspective as a Canadian so the world to me is just an extension of Canada, so I still feel like this is all still my bigger home to explore and learn more about!

@@Kaygee79 That's great. We should have that ideology here in the US but we don't. Most people, anyways. Most people here don't want to go outside of their neighborhoods or clique of friends. Not everyone, of course. I find that people in the larger uban areas are more open-minded. However in small town and rural and even suburban America the people have little to no interest in traveling the World.
@coupleofbeers312 жыл бұрын
@@Kaygee79 I know it's ironic I am saying this being that the creator of the video is American but judging by his accent I think he's from NYC. In NYC the people tend to be more open to traveling and learning about other cultures. Not so much in like Nebraska or Idaho, LOL.

If you do the islands, you really should visit the Canary Islands, most beautiful region in Spain, with microclimates and everything from wet subtropical forests to deserts, to snowy volcanoes, second biggest carnival in the world after Rio, third tallest volcano in the world, best aquapark in the world according to tripadvisor and a bridge not only between Africa and Europe but also the Americas, many cities in America from San Antonio in Texas to Montevideo Uruguay were founded by Canarians. Yes there are huge resorts that attract a certain type of tourism, but there's an amazing historial, sociological and unexplored side to the islands

Id be willing to bet the farm that Fnideq is related to Phoenicians. Ceuta was once known as Abyla (Punic). Romans erased much of the history of the Phoenicians with the help of another well known group of people, but that was all once Fenike or Phoenike territory and the sea was called "The Hibernian Sea". Guess where the new Hibernian Sea is now. The Romans renamed that sea to "Mare Nostrum" or "Our Sea" but will never rename the new one.
