I am an early Amsoil user. I mix up a 5 gallon batch with non oxy gas a couple times a year. 100 to 1 Amsoil 2 stroke, a little Amsoil stabilizer(or Stabil) some Amsoil PI (performance improver). I use it in every small motor I own, 4 stroke or 2 stroke. I have a 20 year old Husky chainsaw that feeds my fireplace, never had it not start. Runs like new and doesn't smoke. Every now and then I have a carb fail from vibration, and on internal inspection, it looks like new. This mix keeps carbs from pluging up upon extended down time (winter). I run this mix in my race car engines for winter storage. I have also used it to bring old motorcycles and lawn mowers back to life after their carbs were wrecked by alcohol corrosion in the gas. The PI will eat the corrosion. Awesome stuff.

I too like to use a synthetic blend for break in, Husqvarna XP+ or Echo Red Armor are both very good. Honestly for some saws I continue using the Husky at 45:1 even after it's broken in. The Husky oil barely has any smell to it and my saws that run on it always look excellent when I break them down. Red Armor is my second choice. It has excellent film strength and apparently cleans carbon deposits but my saws seem to think it's not quite as good of a lubricant as the Husky stuff. Run Saber in most of my saws at 80:1 though and have never had a problem. I'm not crazy about how it smells but there are definitely far worse (cough cough Stihl Ultra). My saws that run on Saber run very clean and I never see any signs the engine isn't getting adequate lubrication

Cool , have used alot of amsoil with NO adverse results in rear ends , 4 cylinder s10 engine for 15,000 miles with no oil change, just a filter halfway through and 2 stroke 500cc sled engines and a really sweet running cr250r , I ran dominator in the 250r at 2.5oz to the gallon for around 300 hours with zero loss of compression . Going to get some saber today and run it in a nice old Mcculloch 10-10 chainsaw , I'll put 2-1/2oz in it and go from there ! Thanks for the video 👍👍👍

@AnarchAngel1
@AnarchAngel1 Ай бұрын
@HiTechOilCo Personally I'm not comfortable running any oil at 100:1 to be honest. I've messed around with different ratios with Saber and now I just run it at 50:1 in my saws. It still burns cleaner than most oils at that ratio and I'm 100% confident I'm getting proper lubrication, especially the bottom end. I think you could run it at 100:1 in some engines but a chainsaw that runs at 11,500 RPM is a demanding engine and I just prefer to be safe. I've torn down saws that I've run at 50:1 and they look really clean and well lubricated so I'm gonna stick with that

@@AnarchAngel1 - AMSOIL has a written product warranty. That provides all the comfortable necessary. :) AMSOIL saves money. No need or benefit to deviate from AMSOIL Inc. recommendations. Bias ply tires would wear out at about 15,000 miles. With modern, long life radial tires, would we change them at bias ply tire intervals of every 15,000 miles? :) Of course not, as that's not necessary, of no benefit and wasteful of money. AMSOIL Saber Professional at 100:1 is not at the, "ragged edge", of protection. It's well within the safety zone, or AMSOIL would not be recommending it as they then would be paying out for a lot of two stroke engine warranty claims. @HiTechOilCo I don't doubt that under normal conditions in a properly tuned engine 100:1 is fine. I personally just like to leave myself some wiggle room, it just helps me sleep better knowing for sure I've got the lubrication I need even if something should occur that exposes the engine to less than ideal lean conditions. I've tried all types of ratios and inspected engines run on them. I see no harm in running it at 50:1. Amsoil themselves say it can be run at conventional ratios 🤷‍♂️ The bottom end (rolling friction) in particular cares more about lubrication quantity than quality. Running 100:1 requires that you lean your engine out as well, which results in even less oil entering it. I'm not doubting the oil, I simply feel more comfortable running an excellent oil like Saber at a conventional ratio. I KNOW I'm getting more than proper lubrication. Again, I've noticed no ill effects such as excess carbon. I know several mechanics that agree with me on this. Guys that have seen saws exposed to all different ratios in saws with various amounts of hours on them. Even guys here on YT like Richard Flagg, ask him his opinion 🤷‍♂️ I realize 50:1 with this oil is more than necessary. For me, that's kind of the point as long as I know I'm not creating problems by running too oil rich

It's funny to read people's posts going against the 100:1 ratios. Why would Amsoil come up with this and only sell you half the oil? Seems it would be better for them to sell it using 50:1 and double their sales. Obviously it works. I have used it in all my 2 cycle equipment for years mowing commercially. I run my 2 cycle stuff hard and also in my Stihl 4 mix engines as well. There are a lot more mechanical parts in a Stihl 4 mix engine than a traditional 2 stroke engine. I have never had any issues nor do I hear any abnormal mechanical noise that one might expect using half the oil. This stuff works. Exhaust screens stay clean and that tells me that the rest of the inside of the engine is too. I have bought several used pieces of 2 cycle equipment over the years and after about 5 tanks of non ethanol gas mixed 100:1, they almost always run better than when I bought them.

When I bought a brand-new 1200W 2HP 2-stroke generator, my first concerns were getting it to run efficiently & performing a proper "break-in"... This meant using a synthetic 2-troke oil. Unable to find what synthetic oil I used before, an internet search led me to Saber form AMSOIL. After much reading upon their website, I decided to use the Pro formula seen here. But I still had a question: Since the generator's manufacturer called for 50:1 mix, and Saber allows one to safely run a mixture of half that, what mixture should I use for the first tankful on "break-in"? I emailed this question them, and they responded: Follow the manufacturer's recommendations during break-in with the first tankful, and then our recommendations of half that with every tankful afterwards. Well, I did... and I've not only been operating it trouble-free since, I'm actually surprised at how strong, smooth & smoke-free it's been operating! So now, when other "New" 2-stroke power-equipment operators ask what to run... or older ones ask what they can use/do to make their equipment run as well as mine... I just tell them: Cut the smoke from your 'stroke with AMSOIL Saber!

@@wayneedgerton5892 It would work fine in bikes IMO. There's not really a difference between a bike and handheld 2 stroke power equipment besides the size of the engine, they're both air cooled 2 strokes. scott 500 just run a high octane gas and mix at 32:1 or 40:1(better at 32:1 for power gains and lubrication) and you can run any oil on the market. EVEN 30W SAE MOTOR OIL. more oil=more power and better lubrication no matter what the application is.on a fourstroke you lean the jetting out to get more power. it is the same on a two stroke.more oil=less fuel(or lean jetting) and therefore more horsepower. putting a lot of oil is a good thing.

Why amsoil took the motorcycle out of the saber label? The truth please!
@AMSOILinc
@AMSOILinc 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jose, As markets evolve, we carefully monitor equipment needs to make sure we’re delivering the best protection. We saw an opportunity to adjust the SABER formulation to better protect today’s handheld lawn and landscape equipment, so we dialed it in for that market. We did not test the new formulation in motorcycles and other non-handheld equipment, so we removed those recommendations from the label. That was an easy choice since we have other, better options for motorcycles, like DOMINATOR Synthetic 2-Stroke Racing Oil, which we have validated extensively in two-stroke bikes.

Mc1 was always my favorite as well at 50:1 but I started fouling plugs on my yz250 and no one could figure it out until I realized one day my power valve was clogged. Bel-ray informed me not to use mc1 on anything with a power valve for this very reason. Mc1 is more designed for air cooled 2 strokes without power valves. They instructed me to use their H1R and I’ve switched with zero problems. I guess Mc1 is fine too if you inspect/clean your power valve often. For me it was the power valve cover with the hose that ran off of it clogged. My jetting was right, but I do tend to jet to the reliable rich side. Just thought I’d share the info with you. Bel ray recommends H1R for these newer water cooled 2 strokes with power valves.

The ratio recommended by the equipment manufacturer is what should be used. Engines are a collection of metal parts rubbing against each other at high speed, they sure don't run better, produce more power, or last just as long with less lubricant. Engines like more, but engine life and power output take a back seat to emission concerns. Amsoil makes oil, not engines. That's why they also don't address the fact that because different oil/fuel ratios have different viscosity, the fuel/air mix changes when a ratio other than what the manufacturer suggests is used.
@tubetime39
@tubetime39 3 жыл бұрын
#1 why would a manufacturer recommend a ratio of 100:1 when most oils should only be run at 50:1 ?? #2 get your manufacturer to put in writing that you can not run Amsoil Saber at 100:1. It won't happen. If they would ( my $50 to your $5 says they won't), send it to Amsoil to prove your point.. Make sure the paper statement is legal signed and dated with all pertinent info. You really think Amsoil would risk saying, in writing, on the label, that you can use at 100:1 if it weren't true ? Synthetics weren't the real deal either 50 yrs ago in cars but only in jet engines. You make oil. You don't just pull it out of the ground. Different oil companies use different formula's & put what ever suits them in it. Amsoil decision when they came out with the First Syn for cars was to make the best. And they do, do their best to live up to that belief. My guess is that Amsoil has tested it quite rigorously. Maybe, just a hunch at up to 150:1 or even 200:1. Just a feeling but I'd bet on that too,..$50 to $5 again.
@tubetime39

PS, I didn't believe it when some guy told me about Amsoil. I thought he was BS-ing me. I went home a spent hours (!!!) researching it and oils. Then I first tried in an old lawn mower so i wouldn't be out much $. I was skeptical with reason, especially 12 years ago. Today I run it in everything and I run everything way harder than most people do without fear of an oil related issue. Early years I was waiting for a piston to come flying out. Transmission fluid ? Try it. Not many competing in that market.

I'll come drive your vehicle ( or just ride in it with you),.. talking about tranny now, I'll help you, or watch you change the fluid in transmission then we'll take the vehicle out again and if there is no change I'll pay for the fluid to be changed back & pay for the Amsoil transmission fluid. 25 year old Tahoe, bought it with 140k on it 17 yrs ago. It's a second vehicle, it has 244k on it and it shifts smooth as silk & when you kick 'er down she'll shift quick and lock in without any slow slipping into the next gear. It's decisive. Engine I checked this year compression was still all up there & balanced readings at 155 psi. It wasn't a big shocker but I was a little surprised as it sits for several months at a time without any use. 2k + a year for past 8 yrs.
