Saber! The possessed pony commercial is actually for a car brand here in Brazil. In the commercial the dude was driving the car and it gets stuck in the mud or something like that, and he opens the hood of the car to find a bunch of little ponies running inside (because the joke was that cars usually have horsepower, but this guy's car was so bad that it had ponies). The commercial was a hit and people were always referencing it and singing the "pony song". The possessed pony you see on the video wasn't in the commercial, but on a online video the brand released, inspired by those chain emails where if you didn't share with at least x people, you were getting the curse of the ponies and they were going to slow down your car. Bold marketing decision but it worked at the time.

One thing a lot of marketers seem to forget is that your ads have to be memorable IN A WAY THAT PEOPLE REMEMBER THE PRODUCT/SERVICE. Sometimes this shit is just weird and catchy and you don't even relate it to any product or even broad category because it doesn't even appear in the ads. Most of these are actually very successful but I've certainly seen memorable commercials that don't even communicate the subject, much less sell it. Caveat: I know that isn't actually the most important--the most important is to make a memorable ad so that you can sell your services to people who recognize the ads you've been involved with immediately, but in theory, you're supposed to be selling their products and services, not yourself. In theory.

As Brazilian I remember when I used to see that car commercial asking "Does your car have Horse Power or Pony Power?" with the engine playing a sticky music repeating "Cursed Ponys, Cursed Ponies!", with right after the commercial a devilish pony cursing you(the viewer) to have their awful song playing in the head for ever. Also the Dolly Soda mascot "Dollinho" has a lot of fanfics around similar to "Shrek is Love". In one he makes a young boy suck his soda until Dollinho splashed soda everywhere with a satisfaction face. The young boy then begins to feel weird and pukes a baby Dollinho with "Father Dollinho" saying" This is my present to you" and fly away.

@francofernandes20063 жыл бұрын
Okay, there's a thing I desperatly need to say: You know that bottle thing he used as an example? Let me elaborate on that. Okay, where do I start? here in Brazil, where I was born and live, we have this soda brand called "Dolly". It's kind of a low-quality brand, and the most iconic thing about them is their commercials. They have this mascot called "Dollynho" (Little Dolly), which looks unintentionally awful, but they insist it's cute, and has this *really* bad voice acting, that sounds like a nightmare. Basically, they fill brazilian TV with these awfully animated commercials that consist in Dollynho singing and dancing with children. They have about 3 standard commercials, and a lot of holiday themed ones they play every year repeatedly. A christmas one (featuring a green Santa Claus), a Mother's Day one, a Father's Day one, an Easter one, and God knows what more. Here in Brazil their commercials are used as jokes and memes frequently, due to their terrible quality and cursed mascot. And yes, he looks like a pedo for us too. So, that's it, I just needed to point that out since this is the first time I see anyone outside of Brazil talking about Dollynho, and I thought you guys might like this little not fun fact.

As a Frenchamn I was very amused at Saber's confusion over the Orangina ads. They have been making over-the top, silly ads since the 80's. Why? They are a friggin fruit juice drink company! They have nothing special save from having a weird bottle shape and pulp in the bottle (hence their "shake it" motto) and being French. So they have been going the "let's be weird" route for decades. Tho, going the anthro/furry route was an outstanding move even for them.

0:59: Attack on Titan did a Snickers Commercial, and I'm not disappointed when seeing the Anime's Titan character return to normal to fit with the American Ad Campaign's slogan for Snickers: "You're not you when you're hungry, Snickers satisfies."
@chadschmaltz97903 жыл бұрын
That's good ad design. Fitting the slogan and an aspect of the anime together is really clever and people will remember that. My favorite so far is the Nissin Ramen commercial where they reenacted Marineford from One Piece but at a high school. In particular the memorable scene when Portgas D. Ace is killed. As soon as Ace is hit with a fatal attack, the Nissin logo burns up in the corner of the screen. This mimics the "vivre paper" from One Piece which will burn up when the person it is bonded to dies.

In the end Russia's on top. I still remember those "Hooch" commercials. The drinks themselves were non-alchoholic cocktails. The idea behind the commercials was the slogan "o-Hooch-enno" which means "Really HOOCHin' Great" - so that kinda enabled the author. The commercial came-out at the same time "Naked and Funny" premiered in Russia (they even use the same SFX). And I remember how fitting those commercials were for the gag-show about sexy situations. It was always shown after 10 PM for some reason 😏 Unfortunately the company went bankrupt thanks to the 2008 financial crisis - that's why there's only two of those. PS: I actually know the guy who animated this - he later directed the "Quackerz" cartoon. He's a sweet guy.
