Hi. Finally someone has reviewed the Razor range. Great riding video footage. Excellent and you're 100% on the money with the descriptions. I use the 880 and a few other wings from various brands. Want to emphasise the surfy feature, as I see many comments about low end, 1st the Razor once flying has a stall speed is as low anything I've ever tried (incl Leviathan) and the 2nd layer to it's magic which Gwen spoke about is it's ability to carve rail to rail like you're surfing a short surfboard. This wing likes carving. I'm 85kg if that helps. PS: it's con is that the top speed is slow you'll max out in the low 30's kmh. And reducing stabiliser too much makes it have less pitch stability, but you can get used to that after some riding. Fox example the old 799 (which I love) can go faster than the 880 but has no where near the same carving and to me it stalls earlier and needs more wind to get flying. That's 1100cm sq.

I have WR980 & WR880 + S380 & F713K. I weight ~70kg suited. The great glide, turning ability and low end speed helped mastering jibes, tacks and foot switches. I probably also get WR780 and S370 next year.

Fantastic to have someone review this range. I still have some hesitations because I don't fully comprehend what the foils are aimed at. That aside, can you compare this range to a range of any other brand (preferably Axis of F-one). Also love to hear your comparison on mast stiffness for the Sabfoil M83 mast versus the Piuma mast or mast of other brands.

How would you say the razors compare to eg Unifoil Progression (since you are in Florida 😉) or Code foils? If you've had the chance ride those. Any differences in feels between those for small waves, light downwind, crappy (but potentially fun with the right foil) conditions? By the way, really love all the downwind / SUP foil content you have put out. I initially found you and Damon from your winging but I come back time and again for your downwind / SUP foil content. It's really great. Really appreciate the documentation of your progression And your stoke! Inspiring and helpful. Thanks so much!

So, a thicker high aspect foil...something like 5/8" maybe? Looks like about a 4 inch chord. The new giant Gong foils are similar design but much larger, if I understand correctly. I'm building myself a 52 inch high aspect foil and I'm fussing with thickness right now, so this is a timely video for me. Thanks for the review. I don't think Saab can integrate the wing with the fuselage without making it quite a bit more expensive.

There is a lot that goes into the foil section to make it work the way it does so it's hard to give a measurement, I would suggest you try to demo one to test and see for yourself, but they are definitely doing something right!

Hi Gwen. I've been using 1350 and 1150 for ladder, rock and beach starts. Both very user freindly but not super fun in waves. How much more difficult is the razor 980 to beach start or static start than the Leviathons? And is it much harder to pump for long distances?

The 980 Razor is quite a bit faster than the 1150 Leviathan so it will be harder to beachstart and rock start. I am looking for a easy going Surf foil in small waves. Because of T8 Fuselage I am somehow on the L950. (good pumping for connecting the waves, that's why not the 945) But the R980 sounds super interessting. Because of T6 I haven't it on the radar... Is there somehow a comparison between the L950 and the R980? Which one is easier to ride, pump???

The 980 Razor is a bit higher performance for wave riding, faster, more responsive. The 950 is probably easier to pump but not as fun in waves. Nice review! Is the low end of he Razor 980 good enough to fill the gap to the Levethian 1150? (right now learning to DW on the Levethian 1350 and weight fully suited close to a 100kg

My current quiver has WL1150, WR980 and WR880. I have usage for them all, I have only wingfoiled. I weight ~70kg suited. WL1150 is significantly easier to get flying in very light winds (~10kt) compared to WR980.

Yes I think the 980 Razor would be a good size down the 1150 Leviathan. The 950 Leviathan would be easier to learn DW SUP Foiling though

totally agree, great video 🤙 maybe the the glide is a bit better with S325, but haven't tested it yet. Have you also tried the F653K Fuselage with the Razors?

Yes the F653K is the fuselage used in this video, pretty much the only one I use for T6 front wings, love it!

Great review! I am thinking of changing my W1100 (2100 cm2) for a smaller wing for low end conditions, specially for wingfoiling in flat water between 8-15 knots and small waves. I have the W1000 for speed and high end. Would you recommend this one or another for that option? thanks!

The Razor 980 is definitely really fun for light/small conditions, it's not going to be the easiest in 8 knots for sure, but there is a foil of this size that can perform well in 8 knots it would be the Razor 980. The 899 is quite a bit bigger, so it's slower. Easier to ride but not as playful as the 980 Razor and doesn't pump as good

Quick question: if I had to go from the 980 to a bigger wing (I'm 95k and in very small swell it's hard to keep up), would you consider the leviathan 1150 a suitable one? I have the 980, and the 1350, but there is a considerable gap, and I find the 1350 very hard to ride when there's some wind (above 12kt). Thanks!

I am about your weight and have the 1350, 1150, and 980. After getting the 980 when it first came out I want to use it all the time. That said when it is very light/small I am forced to use the other two. The 1150 is quite a lot more fun than the 1350 and only sacrifices a little bit of low end. My advice would be, unless you need the 1350 for dock starts, I would sell the 1350 and buy the 1150.

2 very different wings! The 150HA X will turn as tight more drown out but will really like speed and be less loaded do to more camber or more lift at slower speeds. The Razor will have more pressure and get loaded up all the time especially in the slower speeds. Two completely different wings!
