This is a great video. Showing the low end as well as the speed and mast height needed to get to the next bump. What is hard to teach is when to chase and when to sit and when to pull off while paying attention to the direction the swell is heading and your speed in relation to the bump speed. This video shows how slow you sit on top of the bump which is a precarious place to be, but relatively safe to get mast height and catch your breath. Also trusting the foil to sometimes bring you to the next swell in front. You map this out perfectly through thoughts and action, also have to pump yourself out of a tight spot. 👌 I also want to add that Gwen has an interesting mindset that is crucial to doing challenging things. He said, I make it a game, this opens the mind and allows you to truly see the tasks at hand and is important in stressful decision making.

I would use a leash for safety ,if you lose it what you gonna do ? Paddle kilometers?For clarity I live in New Zealand and wind can be gusty or just plain drop where I live.Looks super fun though but expensive atm.

Love your videos! I am not sure which size to get. First time winger. I have a 1850MA North Sonar wing. I am 80kg, have kite foiling background, live on west cost of Fl. Is the 105L or 115L a better option?
@DamienLeroyYouTubeКүн бұрын
If you consider yourself having good balance, the 105L can work, if you want an easier board the 115L will be better. Both sizes will still be really fun to ride. That Drifter model is out of stock but the new model (more stable, more efficient) is in stock: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/kt-drifter-4-carbon?_pos=1&_psq=drifter+4&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Excellent. I wish you did this test for every single foil you ever talk about in future, and be good to go back to recent history, say last 6 months as well. Tip = mention the stabiliser and mast length you used in each test as well. Best.

One thing I wanted to know, or what I wanted to have with the anchor leash I already have and with this new one, is a break point under the quick release or info how much force the leash can take before it breaks. Because when I'm riding in big swell and a wave catches the wing, I might not be able to use the quick release in time before the leash breaks, and in that case I would want the leash to snap below the quick release so the anchor stays with the wing. It's easy to DIY add a small string between the belt and the quick release as a breaking point, but if it's too weak it just snaps all the time, so something with 90% of the strength of the leash would be good. I just didn't want to test what force is needed to actually snap the leash, because then I would need to buy another one. Would be great to get data on that, or straightaway a few "disposable" break point strings sold separately or together with the leash.

Given that I previously shared that in my opinion the 1360 shouldn't be advertised as a replacement of the 1350, I think it's fair to also share something I recently learned. First some context: I bought the 1360, used it 3 to 4 times, then went back to the 1350. My idea was to "make my mind" for learning a new wing. Last week I started using it again, for 6 consecutive days now. And I can tell that my impression now is that the 1360 can perform much closer to the 1350. You need more speed to take off for sure, and it will stall at a higher speed, but even in small bumps, if feels great. So not the same thing but much closer to what I originally said. And this is exactly the way Gwen describes it in this video. So give it a few more tries if you just go it!

Met Balz Muller on a well known spot of south of France, always smiling and enthutiastic, he was windfoiling in the little waves just as if he had no foil, very impressive. I love this guy's spirit, very openminded, should be an example for some grumpy riders of this spot.....

Great video Gwen! Interesting that you took off on what would be toe side. It seems less severe than doing that with a wing, but if you turn off the wind and leg pump it’s more like a paddle up angle.

Hey Gwen, I have a chance to get a Lev1550 at a very good discount but after watching this video I'm second guessing getting the older style Lev. I'm touch over 100kg and just got a 125L lightwind wing foil board (too bad Sabfoil isn't there yet with these sizes). I am using the old Sab1250 front which is serving me well but it seems like it doesn't have a lot of glide in it and I'm not really able do depower the wing and just leg pump on small bumps or wakes. Would going to a much higher AR help with that or is it just lack of skill on my part? What are your thoughts of 1550 vs 1360pro for very light wind lake winging and would either one be significantly better than the 1250?
@DamienLeroyYouTube7 күн бұрын
Since you already have the 1250, I would recommend going with the 1360 Leviathan Pro. You can still use your 1250 in super light wind, and the 1360 when it's a bit more windy. You will gain a lot in glide, speed and turning with the 1360, where the 1550 won't give much more than the 1250 in my opinion. If you go with the 1360, I would definitely recommend pairing it with the Red Devil mast to get even more glide: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/sabfoil-leviathan-pro-set-1360-663-370-74rd?_pos=2&_psq=1360&_ss=e&_v=1.0
