Thank you for this video! I have a question for you: I kiteboard, surf, and wakeboard, but I've yet to wing, and my wife is a complete novice/beginner (no watersport experience). I'm trying to figure out a setup that will work for both of us to learn on. I know it's not ideal, but I'm trying to save some money. I'm 6'0 190lbs (86kg) and she is 5'4" 120lbs (55kg)... This is the setup I have in mind: Board 88-90L, Foil 72-75, Front wing 1850, wing 5.0... Conditions at our spot are deep water and wind 10-20 knots most days, 30-40 days are relatively frequent but we won't go out then. Thank you in advance
@DamienLeroyYouTube23 сағат бұрын
88-90L board is way too small in my opinion. I would recommend this setup with the 110L board, 1900 foil kit and 5m wing: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/afs-access-wingfoil-pack?_pos=1&_psq=access&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Gwen, this advice helped a lot with my chronic back foot over-emphasis. However, as I jibe into switch stance I find I have to work twice as hard to maintain front foot pressure. As I ride switch and pick up speed I can just feel my weight shifting back, rendering a foot switch impossible. Any suggestions?

Hey Gwen, nice review. How would you compare to the Cab H series, in particular regarding the low end? I've been learning to SUP DW on the 1050 (my goto wing foil) and having trouble staying on foil longer than a few minutes at a time... wondering if I'm missing out on foils that have 'easier' low end than the cab. Thanks
@DamienLeroyYouTube2 күн бұрын
Have you tried the 1300H for DW SUP foiling, it is quite a bit easier than the 1050H? The Razor has a better low end than the 1050H yes

@@DamienLeroyKZbin Thanks, I have tried it actually but not during a DW. For sure seems better but I am interested in investing in a new foil system probably, currently holding out to see how the new KT foils in particular look later this year...

Nice review. I ride 975 with piuma 86 mast and f652 for winging. It is fast and fairly turny for the great glide and low end it has. For a larger winger on a mid length narrow strapless board that mostly want turn burn on smaller swell in light to moderate wind this foil is the real deal.

Do the old 980 Razor (I think featured here) and the new pro finish 980 Razor have the same dimensions? Comparing the new 980 Pro with the 975 Pro, the difference in thickness seems quite small actually (17.8 vs 16.7 mm)… the difference in volume is 7 percent… 🤔 just wondering… I ride the new 980 on my lake per your recommendation Gwen and I love it! Thanks!
@DamienLeroyYouTube2 күн бұрын
Yes the 980 Razor and 980 Razor Pro Finish are the same foil, just different finish. The 975 is significantly faster than the 980 no doubt!

Would be keen to know how you compare the razor pro 975 to a Leviathan 1260. I guess it will become harder to decide which one to use
@DamienLeroyYouTube3 күн бұрын
975 and 1260 have a different program really, 975 is more playful for winging, sup foiling, prone foiling… 1260 is designed flat water pumping, amazing gilde, but not necessarily turning. So it’s hard to compare them as they both excel in different applications
@zackmack47122 күн бұрын
Agree but I have the 980 Razor now for prone but I'm 85-90kgs and sometimes I find the 980 too undersized for small waves. What could the next size up / wing be? I was thinking the L1160 Pro could be the next logical choice?

Hi Gwen. Thank you for another excellent video. I have been riding the SabFoil WO 940 as my “everyday” foil for some time now with a 370 stab and 710 fuse. It seems like the 975 will have both better low and top end. Is it compatible with the 710 fuse? Thanks again!
@DamienLeroyYouTube3 күн бұрын
The Razor and Razor Pro line is T6 connection and the WO 940 is T8 so you will need a different fuselage: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/sabfoil-f713k-fuselage-713-t6-r8?_pos=1&_psq=713&_ss=e&_v=1.0 or wingfoilprocenter.com/products/sabfoil-f653k-fuselage-653-t6-kms?_pos=1&_psq=653&_ss=e&_v=1.0

975 is a vastly different than the 940. 940 is a rocket for wave riding, 975 is a chill downwind machine. Maybe check for a 909 medusa pro and keep your current fuse?

GR8 video thanks. So how can I choose between the SAB 980 and the 1350 for super light wing foiling . I currently have the SAB 945 and love it as an all-rounder but really want to do more light wind wing foiling. Which is easier to pump up and which one will glide through the lightest wind . I am an experienced Kite foiler for years but only intermediate wing foiler. Thanks ~ Paul

The 980 is half the size of the 1350 Leviathan, 940 cm2 Vs 1890 cm2, so the 1350 Leviathan is gonna be much better in light wind: wingfoilprocenter.com/products/sabfoil-1350-leviathan-kit-for-pumping-and-light-wind-winging?_pos=1&_psq=1350&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Having a few hundreds of my own 3D printed designs of all sorts I can see why this is a V2. The pull limit, the auto tension out of the way and the handy clip at the clew in the boom bladder and velcro closed folding area, great practical ideas showing some time testing and revising. I haven't been much interested in riding harnessed but I csan really see the apeal of the auto snugged version of harness lines.

@youdigsurf7 күн бұрын
On the v1 the end of the line that plug to the tip broke very quick , i asked the designer why he used pla told me it’s was fine during the test… i re did it with PETG it’s now much more durable of course ! Another issues is the velcro scratch they are not durable unfortunately and they are all bend and curly now. Still this product is clever and i didnt like regular harness line, but maybe like somebody said it’s over engineered.

How is disconnecting? I tried an elastic harness recently thinking I might have difficulty disconnecting. I couldn’t even unhook it after I crashed and was lying in the water.
@DamienLeroyYouTube9 күн бұрын
As you can see in the video, the unhooking process was flawless, didn't have any issue

The problem I have had with a harness line is the leash and the harness line often swing together. Sometimes they wrap around each other and even if they don’t I occasionally I hook into both. I thought the problem was with the leash but this may be an easier fix to the problem. I may try a simple bungee first. Does it bother your back hand grip?
@DamienLeroyYouTube9 күн бұрын
This system is more elaborated than just a bungee, so not sure a bungee would work as a harness line. A waist leash may help your issue. And no this system doesn't bother the grip at all
@DaveSails78 күн бұрын
The duotone coil wing leash solved this for me. Others get in the way of the harness line unless they are exactly the right length.
@smsailfast8 күн бұрын
@@DamienLeroyKZbin I meant a bungee attached to a regular harness line. I think the key may be the micro block at the end to get enough travel. Also, I probably need to abandon the wrist leash when using a harness.
@Djangoat689 күн бұрын
Nice concept however I find that grabbing the harness line with my back hand then grabbing the handle or boom solves the issue of it slapping in the face when pumping
@mec3229 күн бұрын
Such an overlooked aspect! Many boards are tested, and recommendations made based on Salt Water. My neutral buoyancy compact wing board was easy to climb onto knees/get wing off the water when on Salt Water, but needs very calm surface (a rare thing on smaller lakes when windy) on freshwater to accomplish, and generally needs "stinkbug" starting.
@laurentdelageneste81009 күн бұрын
I have installed one if these a few weeks ago in my Duotone Slick boom. It's less convenient to use with a boom since the line sits very close to the boom but it's manageable. I just pinch the rear line with two fingers and slide it a bit forward to get some slack before hooking in. It's really convenient not to have the harness line swinging around when you don't want to use it.
