About a year and a half ago, I too had a wtf am I listening to moment and from that moment on I was hooked. It continues to be a very enjoyable journey to have embarked upon. Eight incredibly skilled musicians and performers that continue to provide a wide variety of music. Their live performances are a must see. One of the best bands I have ever listened to.

If you really want to be impressed with Wagakki Band, watch their live concerts videos. They play every bit as outstanding on stage as they do in this video musically and their show is high energy, tight, and extremely entertaining. This video you reviewed really doesn't begin to show their talent. Quite fascinating band.

Wagakki Band started with the idea of Yuko Suzuhana (main vocalist), who wanted to spread traditional Japanese culture to the world in a more pop atmosphere. The first thing they did was to create a cover album of songs made with the music composition software "Vocaloid" that made virtual idols sing. "Senbonzakura" is one of the songs in their completed debut album "Vocaloid Zanmai". This music video has been noticed not only in Japan but also all over the world. They have already held concerts in France, the United States, China and other countries with great success.

Hello Sabina, this is "Senbonzakura" and the translation is more or less "1000 cherry blossoms". There is a very good version of this song live with a symphonic orchestra with a small cameo by Amy Lee from Evanescence. The live show is "Live Premium Symphonic Night" (2015). In the same live show there is the song "Bring me to live" sung in duet by Amy Lee and Yuko (Wagakki Band singer). A very nice duet.

Hi, this is my first time in channel. If you like this... You should explore some more. They play so many styles, sometimes mixed together. Its amazing how they can play every style and sound just amazing. Cant say my favorite song because there is 20+ of those. I pu some end of this msg, but not all superb songs fit in one msg. Its weird how many amazing songs they can make. and they still keep pushing out new music, new style and like always. It still sound so good. Its like never evending journey with wagakki band. here some what i really like (possible some mispelling, i try use 2 foreing language) : nijiiro chou chou, kagerou, queen of the night, bou getsu, hoshidzukiyo, atenanonai tegami, nichirin, kyougasuigestu, howling. list goes on and on. I also suggest listening live versions, those are the best imo. Enjoy!

I love Wagakki Band. I was very surprised when I first heard this band. I was fascinated by the beauty of the shamisen and shakuhachi tones, and was impressed by the very high standard of the fusion of Japanese and Western instruments, and became a fan. Wagakki Band is a great band to see live! I would like to recommend one of their very fine live performances. It is a collaboration between Amy Lee of EVANESCENCE and them. This duet with Amy and Yuko was so wonderful. Please react to this wonderful live performance by them and Amy Lee together. 😍 Wagakki Band / Bring Me To Life with Amy Lee of EVANESCENCE kzbin.info/www/bejne/npyUeKePgJx1gK8

The title 千本桜 -> Senbonzakura -> 1000 cherry blossoms. Sen is 1000. Bon comes from hon which is used for thin items (I had to look that up, Japanese has a lot of different counters for different things) and Sakura are cherry blossoms or cherry blossom trees. I don't know them super well but they are generally a lot of fun to watch and listen to. But I'm sure other people can give you more accurate info on the band itself. I have read that this is a cover of a vocaloid song (By Hatsune Miku from what I can see). Vocaloid is synthesizer software that creates vocals. Not sure if I can explain it well enough and I don't know a lot about the scene, but there is a huge scene of vocaloid artists in Japan. Hatsune Miku is probably one of the (if not the) most well known one.

Wagakki Band is a Eight member band that synchronise Western Rock with the traditional Japanese instruments & the traditional Japanese way of reciting called "Shigin". The Vocalist Yūko Suzuhana is a very versatile woman of many talents. She's a Pianist, Sworddancer, Shigin practitioner (it's a traditional way of chanting poems), lyricist and composer. This song here is called Senbonzakura (千本桜) which means Thousands of Cherry Blossom. kzbin.info/www/bejne/opm3d4uCf7WooK8 You should try this song as the next to appreciate the beauty, sound and singing of WGB. This one is called "Nadeshikozakura" (撫子桜) which means Pink Cherry Blossom. 😄

One of the most exciting band from Japan (and one of my favorites) who mixes modern and traditional instruments to perfection. Their live performance is always something extra, especially the yearly concert "Dai Shinnenkai". Here are some good videos to continue your journey into Wagakki Bands fantastic world and Suzuhana Yukos fantastic voice. 😁 You already sampled their biggest "hit" but as I said before, LIVE concerts is where they really shine! In the first one you get a good example of Yuko-sans voice capacity. Have fun! Since people have mentioned Hatsune Miku and vocaloid music already I'll dig a bit deeper on the subject: First, Hatsune Miku is only one of many vocaloids. They are synthesized voices based on a real person's voice. Each one typically has its own character. They are capable of a decent amount of nuance, although they still sound somewhat unnatural no matter what. Since vocaloids allow songwriters/producers to add a 'singer' to their music without needing to actually have a singer, it's led to quite a few knock on effects. Some vocaloid producers have experimented with intentionally exaggerating the unnatural sound of vocaloids while others have worked to sound as natural as possible. There's a massive range of styles from fairly traditional pop ballads through to bizarre jazz fusion, and everything in between. Some producers who started off as vocaloid producers have since gone on to have record deals on large labels. Probably the best example would be Kenshi Yonezu, who went by the name Hachi, writing all lyrics, composing, performing all instruments, arranging, and mixing everything himself on both his vocaloid albums as well as his independent solo album. (If you haven't gotten the hint yet, I'm highly suggesting you check out his music). He actually maintains his vocaloid career separately from music he sings himself, continuing to use the stage name Hachi when releasing vocaloid music.

The song is called Senbonzakura (litterally: 1000 cherries, more accurate translation: 1000 cherry trees). It's a cover of the song performed by vocaloid Hatsune Miku. The song was originally written for Hatsune Miku and Wagakki band also started out as a vocaloid cover band, but they are now so much more. When i remember it correctly wagakki is the word for ancient instruments in japanese. I remember your reaction on the covers stream when they performed a cover of a evanscence song including amy lee as an additional singer. What i heard so far from them is unusual and it needs time to enjoy it but the longer they play the longer you love it. A great reaction from you and it is sad that you had to edit it because of copyright claims

Senbonzakura is taken from Vocaloid so it's actually a cover of Hatsune Miku. The song was already a hit before the Wagakki band made it their own. If you react to more WGB songs, stick to live video. They will not be blocked. WGB is best live anyway.

Wagakki usually refers to traditional music. This band seem to fusion rock with some traditional Japanese style. Some of their live performances are nothing short of epic…a bigger emphasis on the rock/metal. I would recommend that you have a look. The usual Japanese attention to detail with the musicianship. Hey, not a bad song. Sabina..you looked slightly awe struck but appreciating the style and quality.
