The whistling from a turbocharger tends to increase in frequency with the engine RPMs. A straight cut gearbox, on the other hand, increases in RPM with the car's speed. You'll notice between shifts that the whistling stays at the same frequency.

this is a 997 GT3 Cup, therefore no turbo like all porsche race cars. It has a direct shift sequetial racing gear box with a clutch only for the first gear.

RoyCoST, I think you're missing the point (and that you've only watched the first three minutes!). This race was on the Nordschleife, they just use the modern F1 loop as well. It's splitting hairs a bit to say that doesn't count as "The Ring"!

hey yes it is the nurenburgring only the big this is THE RING, is the 20.71km part the track where they are driving is the 7,82 part of the nurenburgring! the RING is the nickname off the 20,71km part! ,,

I think it´s a straight cut sequetial gearbox.... This lap is taken from the VLN in ´05...

definitely an SMG with straight cut gears As far as I know, any sequential gearbox that whistles like that has straight cut gears. Not sure though.

that sort of transmission isnt designed for those sort of very low revs. i guess thats why.
