Same problem. Been working on setting the raid up and it doesn't work. 1st day shooting a documentary series and I have been working on it since I got it last week. No luck. Time to offload today's footage. Still no luck getting it to set up the Raid. Can only format in Mac disk utility and see separate drives. The instructions are minimal and not step by step. And there is no online information. Just horrible. Now I'm in a pickle and using the backup drive as the main drive for data.

When will the latest version of this become available again?

Looks really good and simple to use, but USB 3.0 is already becoming outdated which kind of gives me pause when looking at a product desgined for long term storage

Yep this needs USB 3.2. Hopefully Sabrent can release a refreshed version.

If you did RAID0, what read/write speed did you get off of it? Thank you

Please create one with thunderbolt or at least USB-C. This is almost a perfect low-cost device but USB type A is too slow for this application.

can I use it as an external RAID unit which I can plug to different computers while mantaining all the data stored? Is it possible to have 2 or more sets of RAID disks, that I can interchange? If so, how is it managed? Thank you!

What is the direction of the airflow through the dock, is it bottom to top or top to bottom?
@markus4979Ай бұрын
I think probably pulls it up, what matters more is apparently it's quite noisy, but may be possible to upgrade for a more silent fan (probably only meant to turn on manually during extreme use/performance).

I'm happy to assist you, in order to set up the RAID 5 on the back side of the unit you should be able to see three pins, please leave the pins in the next position 010 or down, up, down, the next step is to hold the set button and turn on the unit then you need to hold the set button for about 7-10 seconds and then release the button you should wait for about a minute and then the unit will complete the RAID set up by itself, then if you are on Windows you can check on Disk management that the unit should be recognize as RAID 5. if the unit is unable to build the RAID please let me know.

@@grahamrussell6014wow thanks for sharing, only little info in the manual.😂 How's your experience with it after a year? Do you experience random disconnections? Btw. Might you know during a power loss does it automatically boot up or does one has to press the power button (again)?

Now, if one is loaded, a raid array with 5 8tb 2.5 inch SATA SSDs could be a good idea...

Did you get it sorted? How was support? Concerned as I ordered mine yesterday, mainly because it offers raid in the 4 bay while the very similar looking 4bay from sabrent is missing this crucial feature. I did read a few people mentioning the ones from sabrent have issues recognising the disks in 4th bay and random disconnects. Are you sure you got your from acasis with raid dip switches? Btw. Somebody below commented that pressing the set button for 7-10secs is required to initiate the raid setup!

Nothing I am doing will set up the RAID 5. What are the exact instructions, and why is this manual so shoddily written.

They have a C-Type version for the same SSD docking station which cost more. Pro: Impressive design on the external enclosure for the SSD 2.5! Con: The docking station FAN could improve, in other reviews, it's noisy and annoying as af.

Coat a lot more right? 😂 Yeah coat saving, after all most want a cheap unit to avoid buying a full NAS i.e. Synology thus should be below 100$/€. I read the fan can be upgraded for a more silent one, anyways is more meant to manually turn it on during extreme usage. What's your experience, any disconnection issues? Does one has to manually turn it on after a power outage?

Replace it with a more silent one or keep it off and avoid extreme usage.😂 Or buy a Nas for triple the price.

Update, I am so disappointed, I run Windows 10. and to be fair, when i connected it. It ran for about an hour. But when i tried to disconnect and use the features to unplug it from the computer software and then physically, Well, thats all she wrote. After that, its an amazing paper weight. $97.00 paper weight. Maybe im not computer savvy. im old. or maybe this thing is out of tune with todays gadgets. As the lady at Best Buy said, "Maybe it stopped working because its drivers are out of date." I have not been this disappointed since prom night. and IM 53! just kitting on that part. but yea it did feel like my computer skills need an upgrade. More over the lady at Best Buy was right. And its such a nice gadget, fan works, looks pretty. blue lights light up and yes, its still a paper weight. The Box at least looks nice too. good presentation. To place this into perspective- on the funny side- its like having the most beautiful girl friend, and finding out shes gay, but your not invited to the next 3 some or any party after that. Sabrent- Buuuuuurrrrrrn as that 70s show put it best. but yea guys it feels that way. so so disappointed. thats not a good bye either Sebrent! (Yes Sebrent i am rubbing your nose in it, i know you can do better. I believe in you). Fix it please.

Too loud too slow !!! Total rubbish . Used it on the Mac Studio m2 Max 2 sata 3 ssd 4TB. The fan makes almost 58db(a) the speed via usb c not even 400 mb/s
@markus4979Ай бұрын
I guess it's not supposed to be a complete replacement for NAS that costs more than triple the price. Fan can be upgraded for a more quiet one and is probably only meant to manually turn it on during extreme usage, so for light transfers shouldn't be a heat issue. I'm more concerned if there are disconnection issues and with 4th drive like some reported with the 4 bay one from sabrent which seems to be a clone but without hardware raid.
