Yesterday on the 26th of September, I was taking a nap after a long day I had and left KZbin on autoplay and when I woke up, this song was playing. Still not fully awake, it was like someone was talking to me, it was like I am in heaven for that moment and now this track has made its way in to my life and it brings back so many memories I had and takes to the place I've never been, I have never been so connected to a song.

Interesting to hear the other side of this... Someone who had a stable childhood.. who can rely on her "young self" to help her when she can't be there for herself. As someone with developmental trauma, my young me, the little girl inside, is very damaged. I have to rely on myself, the adult me, to comfort her when she can't comfort herself.. to be there for her and guide her.. to give to her what she so badly needed growing up. That's the other side of Messages to Her. I loved hearing another's experience.

I love how you put it... I took away kind of the same outlook... Along with just the overwhelming feeling to be pure again. As children we lived with no regrets of how the world viewed us. We were free. Life experiences can sometimes taint our visions and smother who we really are. This song for me is to reflect back on when i was free.

My childhood was also traumatic, however I interpreted the song differently. Your child-self is egoless and is your true self. In order to move forward in life we have to communicate with and if necessary heal our child self. Although the world around me was chaotic and crazy, the ME that I was is the ME I desperately want to find again. 🤷🏻♀️ Thats how you know a song is good, when it can be interpreted a bazillion different ways :)

You'll cry so hard when the realization hits you..that your inner child is still waiting for you to grab her hand. I'm 34, externally I look ok but deep inside the childhood trauma still pains me. I feel so sorry for her, all this while keeping myself sane and strong, despite the loneliness. I'll never abandon myself and my needs anymore. Set firm boundaries with those who neglected or hurt you, even if they're family.

I am so regretful of everything I’ve done, my younger self would’ve never thought I’d end up like this. I’m definitely not proud of myself, and she isn’t too. This is why this is my fav song ever, I always imagine myself hugging my younger self and protecting her and crying in her arms, apologizing to her. What good am I doing for this girl? Am I making her proud? Is she happy? Those are questions I ask myself daily. And I’m really intending on changing, treating my mama right, stop consuming those things to relieve my pain, and just be there for her. Thank you Sabrina, my fav artist right now. She wrote this song in words that I had been trying to find for the past 2 years

I love this. But, do you know why I love this? Hardly do I see artists even create songs that involve...idk just yourself and personal feelings. Well, of course other artists obviously include their personal feelings, but in this song, it talks about just you. You reminiscing on your younger self and your younger self talking/ seeing yourself now and just that parallel, connext, and reflection on yourself. Like, that is a mental thing and (it seems like in this song), doesn't include outside factors (like friends, acquaintances, fam, etc.). It's mental. I've just never heard any song just address that, and at that, so eloquently. I was gonna stay on my bed until my next class, but now I'm gonna exercise and play this song out loud, haha.

Watching this video made me understand the song even more. For me this song reflects back at our younger selves. I know some of us did not have a good childhood, no one has a perfect life. But for me I see this song talking about the mentality of our minds being fresh and new before society even hit us before we knew what “real life” was like. That state of being right there was our true selves. And now because of everything that happened , everything around us, our experiences....it changed us. That younger self , the mind that was not touched, our true mind... is what needs to be remembered. Our true self. I understand what we go through is what makes us... and everything happens for a reason. But this world is a cruel world... I don’t believe our minds were meant to be this way. Every now and then I get a reminder of myself before I knew what life was really like. And I wish sometimes I can just live in that state of mind. This song is definitely going to be with me forever. The words were so well put together and the message was clear. Love love love

we never had perfect upbringings but our young selves were full of life, they were burning of happiness and would stop at nothing.they could not define sadness because it was shortlived. they forgave easily, loved easily and forgot easily. that is why we need messages from them to carry us through the heartache of not letting go, not forgiving and being scared to love as adults. and no matter what, THEY WILL NEVER LEAVE US. they are a brighter part of us. they are what we long for and work towards.

There’s no other song that I can resonate with other than “Messages to her”. This song helped me throughout my spiritual journey.... When she says “that girl inside me stays, if I’m not here for me, she will be there.” That girl represents love energy, bc love is all that we truly are. And by that love does not hate or judge. So when I’m not vibrating in that love frequency, I’m in my ego. And our ego is everything that society expects us to be.. Everything that we “THINK” we know.. When you’re in your ego, you can’t be there for yourself... Thats when you’ll realize that you need go within yourself... and by that “she” (LOVE) will be there..

@abbied1113 my heart goes out to you I'm tearing up as I am reading your messages. When I was molested it was by my own flesh and blood. For years they prefered to act like it didn't happen even to this day they feel it happened years ago why bring it up again. Trauma cam never be undone it's up to us to let it defeat us or make us stronger. I've come a long way I have been put in situations where I could have dies but I'm blessed to have listened to my intuition! IF EVER you feel it's not right then IT'S NOT RIGHT!! I struggled to understand why I did not stop it that's what makes me feel like it was going on since I was a little child. Then when he gets caught he beats me up he kicked me in my stomach pushed me down slap me pull my hair he even poked my eyes out in all my pictures we had growing up. It was as of I was being punished for what happened to me. A few of my sibliblings would always pick on me and I have 6 I'm the baby of them all. To this day I don't have healthy relationships with them, me and my mom are a lot better now then before. I've been able To talk about it with her more but it's still hard. No mother ever wants to hear their son molested their sister, even my distant family don't know nothing about it. If I talk about It they shut it down if I bring it up bc I'm feeling depressed since I still struggle with trauma anxiety social awkwardness over thinking being negative. I fight every day to stay sane My Lord has been teaching me to be more patient to learn to love my self to live for myself. Being a mom is the best thing I could ever ask for and it took longer than expected. Even after being told I could ever carry long term bc they wouldn't develop then I ended up losing two babies while in an abusive relationship. I was in an abusive relationship with my son and it's amazing he even made it! He is truly my miracle child and I have My Lord to be so grateful for that! My son, has taught me so much to know how it feels to be a mom with responsibility for another human being it's so special and scary!! I now have to ensure my son never endures the same trauma I endured and I will be a beast to protect him! For me too it's hard to keep my temper under control I do fuss and yell I have been better at not spanking him unless he gets out of hand then I'll lose my cool. For the most part I've seen how much better it's been when I don't get so upset which in turn helps me from having these episodes. It also cut me to my core when I seen that he too began to project his frustrations in anger. That sure caught my attention since I seen what he was learning. Once you start to live for someone else life becomes so much more meaningful especially when there was no hope to ever be a mom. THE LORD IS AMAZING JUST REST YOUE WORRIES WITH HIM YOU WILL NEVER LOSE ANYTNING YOU WILL ONLY GAIN BENEFITS FROM HIS BLESSINGS!! Thanks for sharing I will say my prayers for you to find comfort and joy so you can see how precious this once in a Lifetime experience can be!

I love the deep message and the choreography I think it's really raw and wonderful this is one my favorite songs in her album. What I got from this is that when you get lost, you can pretty much forget who you once were. In my opinion I think "message to her" is that little girl in her who once knew how to be happy and care free in those times that were tough. While she's there trying to reconcile and connect to her younger self she feels despondent, void, and agony. She tries to seek a sense of meaning and answers pertaining on the the life that she has now and where she is currently. Asking what that little girl would do if she is still even there in her.

Rosalia - De plata.... Sade Love is Stronger Than Pride. You will only find the stills of that video but it was her concept for Sade third album. It’s all there. I understand every artist is inspired. That being said I think they should bring something new to what is being seen. If it’s literally just a copy what’s the point?

@@Chic88go Just because she wears a red dress in her video doesn't mean it was her concept. I just watched the video and can't see any relevance to Sabrina's video. Even if her music video was inspired by Rosalia's, there is nothing wrong with using something as an inspiration. That's what anyone should do when they start something. They don't just become professionals in a day. They look and find their style in other people's and when they learn everything they create their own.

This song hits me very deep.. I was sexually abused by a family member when I was 5 and continued for years.. then by an ex.. and just recently by my boss.. this one hit me the hardest Bcuz I had told him I had gone through this kind of hurt. He still kept his position and job while I was moved. It broke me more than I could ever imagine. I’m sorry to all the ones who’ve gone through this and go unheard. I can understand how it feels.

I was buying a pair of jeans in some shop, Sandton, South Africa...and I couldn't help but be drawn to the background music...I just paused for the next 3 minutes. I've now been on her channel for the past few days. I kept thinking this one song a nice fluke, but every one of her songs is so clever, so unpredictable and absolutely poetic. I like the fact that I can see a bit of Madonna's intensity, Byonce's vivaciousness, Micheal Kiwanuka's dry charm, Sade's quite sultry and calm...and yes a bit of Billy Elish's darkness... She's picked her path.. she's here to stay...love her! And kudos to her VIDEOGRAPHER!

This song reminds me of heaven. Angels coming to collect me in my sleep, this song is like angels singing to me when I'm trying to sleep my way in the night. And whenever I wanna listen to a song. This song always pops up in my head, it's like telling me something. Like something coming up, but I don't know what. I always have this song in my head. I find this song like a sad song I don't know why but it just does, whenever I listen to this song I lay in bed and stare at the roof and think about life as time goes, it's very hard to explain what I think but this song is just so beautiful and understanding. And I'm so happy I've found this song because it's the best thing ever.

I always break down with this song. And sometimes it’s much needed. I shove my broken heart and my past in the back of my mind. Sometimes it’s there too long and life starts to feel off. The girls inside me… although she’s broken and abused she’s a piece of me… whether I like it or not. And sometimes she needs to cry. Until this song, I didn’t realize I should’nt shove her in the back… she’s so strong… she’s learned so much from life… and sometimes I need messages from her…

Nobody will ever understand your childhood except for your closest family, your siblings, and parents. Sometimes even they don't understand it the way you do. You have to find a partner in life who will listen to you, and try their best to understand. Someone who will never use your past against you and throw it into your face. I was in a toxic relationship where my childhood, my deepest trauma was used against me and they made me relive each moment and feel so low.

My sisters favorite song before passing away, she had great taste in music and I remember she played this in her car and we were driving late at night and she was singing along and I asked her what was the name of the song and she told me “messages from her”. Then other night when me and her went out to a restaurant to go and eat we had brought two of the same burgers and talked and laughed so much that night. As soon as she dropped me off at my friends house and drove off I heard later on in the same night she gotten into an accident and didn’t make it out. It’s been a week without her and I miss her so so much. Sometimes I wished I was in the car with her. I lost more than my sister but a best friend. She’s in good hands now with god. Missing you more and more everyday Nathalie, wait for me there in paradise.

This song will never get old. I used to listen to it in high school and to me it was such a healing song to listen to when you had gone to nobody but within yourself to heal your inner childhood traumas and wounds. Now I’m in college and this song still makes me so emotional because it’s so beautiful and expressive in it’s own uniqueness. To me this song is like talking to that little girl inside you that was always so happy, cheerful and full of light. And telling herself that she will always be there even after all the emotional/physical abuse she has gone through and continues to go through. It’s like a form of self-reflection for the woman who always goes within herself to solve her own problems internally because the only person who understands her most is her own powerful self🌹❤️
