Changing Sabrina's hair and makeup from luscious and vibrant to flat and plain when she lost her magic was a nice touch.

and this was the last time Sabrina could see her mother without turning her into a ball of wax on Sabrina's wedding day, Aunt Zelda had to be volunteered by Aunt Hilda to become a red wax candle for the duration of the ceremony, so that Sabrina's mom could attend her daughter's big day without becoming a ball of wax

I really hate that they did that to Sabrina. A kid needs their mother, and nothing can replace a mother's love. I'd definitely arrange a meeting with the council and have them overturn that stupid decree. I'll give it my all or die trying.

@@aalikane6219it’s based on a decree made by the witches council that when when a half mortal child comes into their powers they cannot see or be in contact with the mortal parent until they get their witches license (but it then got changed in the show to forever for some reason). It was a way to dissuade mortal/witch couplings andl the reason why Sabrina lives with her aunts because she can’t be with her mom and her father is too busy in the Other realm foreign service to give her a stable home.

@@chrisa.k.1531 This decree made no sense to me. At first, they said that Sabrina had to wait until she was 18, then it was changed to 'forever'. If the witch's council didn't like witch/mortal couples, then why did they lack more decrees to prevent witches and mortals from dating each other? I also don't get how their soul rocks would show Sabrina and Harvey were soul mates. If Sabrina and Harvey have children, won't this mean that her children can't see her either for the rest of their lives?

I never thought about this when i was a kid but.... how messed up is that she is forced to either embrace one side of her family or the other? Either be a Witch or a mortal? And her mother new abut the ball of wax thing, meaning that she knew witches exist. She had to live many years of her life not allowed to see her own daughter. Because of some stupid rule that makes no sense. You'd think that her memory of witches existance would be erased or something too.

The only time I remember her seeing her mother is during her wedding which only Hilda attends, but she brought Zelda as a candle and Sabrina's mother as a ball of wax.

I love how Sabrina learns that she had to chose between being a witch or seeing her mother ever again & I like that Sabrina tells her quizmaster that she rather see her mom & If I had to pick between seeing my mom or stay a witch I would definitely chose my mom cuz a mother is something you just can't replace at all

Also, it seems as if a half witch half mortal child is very uncommon. If witches/warlocks choose to live in the mortal realm (which it seems most of them choose not to) they have to keep their magic a secret and that always seems to be nearly impossible when not keeping a distance. Most of the witches and warlocks are very against mortal interactions, have a mortal prejudice and/or are seriously against being with them. The magical beings only real interest with mortals seems to be more for their own twisted amusement. Sabrina's father falling for a mortal always seemed to be such an outlier thing and even they didn't last.

Sabrina's a complicated case bc of her parents' divorce. Since her mom's legally not married to a witch anymore, it's a rulebreaker to talk to someone who knows about the witch world without losing their memories when both parties are susceptible to seeing each other again. Witches generally have little faith in mortals' abilities to keep a secret and many discourage witch-mortal weddings, which is why amnesia potions are a thing, but in the case of a parent and child, it'd be more severe than forgetting a friend or acquaintance and just not doable. Sabrina initially must be a full witch and fully get her license as well as be of age and stuff, but after breaking the rules this episode by doing it prematurely, her punishment forbids her from seeing her mom ever again. With some luck in the future, maybe a good enough lawyer can overrule it and allow them to see each other again without any restriction.

Point - Dashiel. 🥕 The Witches Council has issued this decree, among others: "When a witch marries a mortal and they sire a child, that child, upon their powers awakening on their 16th birthday, is not to set eyes on their mortal parent face-to-face or else that parent will be turned into a ball of wax." Rule #803 says: "For every rule there is a loop hole." Okay, lassie. You may start looking for a loophole when ready. 🕳
