This series was being billed as the duel of the masters - Sachin and Warne. Mark Taylor dreamt about conquering India long after 60s and this time he had the finest spinner of Australian history as his main hope. As usual Aussie media hyped alot. But Sachin came out with intent and never let Warne settle. Today we have mediocre spinners running through our batting line up. Back then even Warne and Murli couldn't dominate us on home ground.

Sachin made many sacrifices in early part of his career he was always playing for the team he always played attacking cricket keeping in mind the Indian batting in those days wasn’t so strong he tried to score quick runs and got out early many no of times throughout his career.

Selecting Warne in 1998 and 2001 series in India was a mistake from CA, instead another fast bowler or a left arm spinner should have played those series in India. The same Sachin Tendulkar could not bat assuringly vs off spinner Saqlain Mushtaq in 1999 Chennai and Delhi tests who dismissed Sachin 3 times in 4 innings as well as grabbed as high as 20 wickets from those two tests.
