In 2023 we had the record breaker Kohli, hitman Rohit, KL Rahul, Boom Boom Bumrah but still we lost. All that matters is the winning mentality which the current team of India lacks. In 2003 India's bowling attack was not comparable with that of 2023 but still with world class bowlers and batsman we lost an easy match where we have already defeated Australia in the group stage matches. Nonsensical hero worshipping. Cricket became famous in India because of that extraordinary 1983 world cup victory not because of Sachin. It is because of that world cup victory & the likes of Kapil Dev, the very next world cup in 1987 happened in India & cricket exploded in subcontinent. World cup matches were happening in empty grounds in Sachin's time too, this recent world cup has more audience in the ground than any world cup in history, even more than 2011 which happened here.

@@nagarjachari3362 That is more myth than factual, BCCI started getting uber rich from early 2000s onwards when they started giving broadcasting rights to private broadcasters, Sachin was there since 1990, major money would flow from 2000 onwards. But in reality cricket exploded in india because of that 1983 victory not really because of Sachin, although Sachin's role can't be denied either.

Cricket didn't become an attention only in 90s, maybe it became attention for you but it had already exploded when India won the 1983 world cup & when the world cup was hosted in India absolutely skyrocketing the game in viewership. 1987 world cup had bigger attendance & more successful than any world cup before even bigger than 1992 world cup of 90s which Sachin played. You certainly seem like a hero worshipping person, your God of cricket was a ball boy himself in 1987 world cup watching in awe & getting inspired to play cricket by greats like legendary world cup winning captain Kapil Ramlal Nikhanj Dev whom 4 generations know, who made cricket a lot more relevant & popular in india because of that famous World Cup win in 1983, without him & likes of Gavaskar cricket would have been like any random sport in this country with not much prospect & your God's parent wouldn't have probably allowed your God to pursue cricket as a profession.

We cannot compare Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli because of the following reasons 1) No option of DRS then, now we have 2 for batting and 2 for bowling. 2) If I am not mistaken, powerplays were not there when sachin played. 3) If i am not mistaken, when sachin played they did not have 2 bowl option. Same bowl was used for the entire inning. 4) He played against the likes of a) S Akhtar b) Muralidharan c) Brett Lee d) Imran Khan e) Wasim Akram f) McGrath g) Shane Warne h) etc etc ( this list is very long ) 5) Kohli started playing because of Sachin not the other way around. I do not want to say Virat Kohli is not a good player. He is a great player without any doubt but we should not compare these two players. For all those who think Sachin Tendulkar played for records then if we compare Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli then it appears as if Virat too plays for his own records not for the country ( recently concluded WC 23 is a testament to that opinion). Thats my personal opinion. Sachin is Sachin, no comparison with anyone. There was a time when opponents used to target SRT ( they knew others would be taken care of ).
