He wasn't a bad Captain, rather he was a Captain who was bogged by Unrealistic Expectations. When Sachin took over Captaincy, the team was rife with Corruption, Board Mismanagement, Favouritism etc. In addition Senior players such as Azhar, Jadeja, Prabhakar, Mongia, Sidhu etc were involved in match fixing and as a result they threw numerous imp matches. Upcoming players such as Ganguly, Sehwag, Dravid and Kumble were also quite inconsistent. Hence in the 90s, Sachin was the mainstay of India's batting and Javagal Srinath was the mainstay of India's Pace attack. Sachin did as much as he could but unfortunately he was not supported. = India's most Successful Captains Sourav Ganguly and Mohd Azharuddin's successes largely depended on Sachin's own success as a Batsman. When Sachin batted well, the team won but when Sachin failed, the team also failed. In fact Sourav Ganguly modelled his Captaincy acc to his own observations of Sachin's Captaincy.

After Azharuddin, sachin was forced to become the captain. He even rejected the offer but still appointed as the new captain by bcci without even informing him. (Reference : Sachin's autobiography and his documentary film). 1996 to 2002 was the worst era of Indian Cricket. Everyday a new scandal came to light. And Sachin Tendulkar was told guilty as he was the captain. Finally Sourav Ganguly came and started the new era of Indian Cricket. The Indian team and the progressive Cricket that we see now a days, is all because of Saurav Ganguly hands down. Sachin gave his best, but maybe his fate never wanted him as a leader.

You can't say that,I think Sachin's cricketing acumen was good and he could have been a wonderful captain provided he had the kind of match winners who could change the coarse of the game or who could bail out the team from the verge of defeat. During his captaincy just Rahul Dravid, sourav ganguly and he himself were batsman of international standard in the team,india didn't have a quality fast bowler like Wasim Akram or glenn McGrath,you can say javagal srinath was there but he was inconsistent,and anil Kumble was great but india couldn't had always been solely dependent on anil kumble to take 10 wickets everytime,if you see sachin tendulkar's captaincy he had great skills as well as idea that was needed to win matches but cricket is not a individual sport,its a team game and there are 11 members along with captain who should be capable of executing the plans made by captain, but one thing sachin tendulkar lacked was he had little or no idea about cricketers be it from domestic front or from under 19 team who could be world class and match winners,in this regard sourav ganguly was ahead of sachin tendulkar,as sourav ganguly had vision what is required in the team to win matches against cricketing giants like australia and south africa ,back then even Pakistan and srilanka were giants,and ganguly had tendency to get himself deeply involved in selection matters which sachin lacked,and sourav ganguly had the capablity to identify players who could be match winners,Ganguly almost fought with BCCI administrators and selectors, and got his players of his desire and then he made indian team a winning force, that's the difference between Sachin Tendulkar and sourav ganguly's leadership skills,sachin tendulkar had sharp cricketing acumen as well as ideas while sourav ganguly had also all these trait but one thing dada stood ahead of sachin was that he had vision,he had that fighting attitude that is his ability to lock horn with BCCI's administrators who selected cricketers on zonal basis rather than talent and sourav ganguly not only selected cricketers who were capable of winning matches single handedly but at the same time he backed them if they had failures initially

Oh come on! the video is not based on facts. You said Independence Cup played in India in 97 was a TRi-nation series. It's wrong; it was quadrangular series with NZ, SL, India and Pakistan. In group match India didn't win against SL; instead, they lost. India didn't qualify for the finals. Pak and SL played the best of 3 finals and SL comfortably won it. Check all the records and stats carefully and then mention them.
